Yes. It's another example of our police getting out of control.
The police union boss John Evans was quoted, "“Fifty-seven resigned in disgust because of the treatment of two of their members, who were simply executing orders”
Were the two cops ordered to walk away from a man bleeding from a cracked skull? How does negligently ignoring an injured person 'serve and protect' the public?
Was the police spokesperson ordered to lie and say that the elderly man "tripped and fell"?
-----------
A distinct pattern of police misconduct has emerged that includes many examples of excessive force. If the 57 cops don't want to serve on the riot squad with professionalism and accountability, let them walk.
It wasn't just that they claim they were following orders, they claim:
1) right or wrong the guy was already slipping
2) the politicians don't support them
3) the union promised to pay their legal fees if they volunteered for this unit and then balked under pressure from politicians that are under pressure from the rioters that these police have to control.
good for them. Not worth it. They can't even take a pee without someone criticizing em for it. Let the liberal inner cities and their obtuse leaders deal with it themselves.
It's a mess all the way around, not just this incident in Buffalo but the various LE-related incidents throughout the country. What happened is Buffalo is wrong and they certainly shouldn't have used force to get the old man to move back to whatever part of the street they wanted him to go to. I would have hoped that he would have complied when verbally asked but I know this is a tense time and a lot of people on the streets are testing police's authority, which will lead to confrontations.
There are a good number of people in society that, when asked by police to do something or to leave a particular area, want to verbally debate the police about the order instead of complying and believe that the police should have to talk to them and essentially debate them on the spot and justify the order. That isn't really how police work - they aren't there to debate. The police officers should use good judgment, assess the situation and figure out the appropriate way to get the desired result, hopefully with no force but with absolutely minimal force if required. In the aftermath of all of this mayhem, when the dust settles, it will be very curious to see how police behave when civilians refuse to obey orders and what city leaders (police chiefs, mayors, city council members) view as appropriate responses to civilians refusing to immediately obey orders and, instead, wanting to engage in a debate about the order.
"Our position is these officers were simply following orders from Deputy Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia to clear the square," said Buffalo Police Benevolent Association President John Evans. "It doesn't specify clear the square of men, 50 and under or 15 to 40. They were simply doing their job. I don't know how much contact was made. He did slip in my estimation. He fell backwards."
Just following orders, where have we heard this before ?

WTH is an old man doing out there to begin with!!!!????!?!
Communist-anarchist liberals who now control most of America are getting their wish.
Watch inner cities throughout this now-communist nation burn to the ground.
The idiot cops could have just escorted the man out of the zone instead of shoving him. I am 56 and don't have the same balance and reflexes I did when I was 40.
Going forward, they need to be aware of older people getting into the mix when clearing an area. I'm thinking they're so used to shoving young people who are quick on their feet. While the push was aggressive, it didnt look like it would have caused a spry 25 year old to fall in most circumstances.
Saying that, as a 60 year old woman who's knees have been around the block, I'm not about to stand in front of a group of advancing humans be it police or small children, and I wouldn't do well in a protest anyway since I'd be constantly looking for a bathroom.
