I don't think those two cops are stupid nor indifferent. I think their actions reflect how they were trained, a culture of police militarization, the code of silence, and how police have become increasingly political. There's a real police culture problem that needs to be addressed from the top down. Some police chiefs "get it," others don't.
Every single job description I’ve ever read had,
“And other duties as assigned”
Fire them and hire new ones.
certainly an option if you have millions in the budget to replace them. Plus the ensuing law suits. You can't throw untrained police into specialized law enforcement duties.
And don't forget the 5 Dallas cops being murdered thanks to Obamas hateful anti cop rhetoric. I didn't see cops nationwide going on a looting, arson spree.
That's exactly what I was thinking of. And then when he spoke at the memorial service for the 5 officers, he chastised police.
Class act. I voted for him twice but what a disappointment.
Going forward, they need to be aware of older people getting into the mix when clearing an area. I'm thinking they're so used to shoving young people who are quick on their feet. While the push was aggressive, it didnt look like it would have caused a spry 25 year old to fall in most circumstances.
Saying that, as a 60 year old woman who's knees have been around the block, I'm not about to stand in front of a group of advancing humans be it police or small children, and I wouldn't do well in a protest anyway since I'd be constantly looking for a bathroom.
The idiot cops could have just escorted the man out of the zone instead of shoving him. I am 56 and don't have the same balance and reflexes I did when I was 40.
I agree! There was no need for that. They see his head bleeding and keep going.
The video was so disturbing to watch. The old man did not deserve that. After he fell and was bleeding out his ear, the cops glanced at him and kept walking away, leaving him there to die!
These cops need to be held accountable somehow, some way.
I bet they wouldn't like it to well if someone shoved their elderly mother onto the ground and she started bleeding out.
“All 57 of the members of the Buffalo Police Department's Emergency Response Team resigned Friday from the unit which responds to riots and other crowd control situations, the president of the union that represents Buffalo police officers told The Buffalo News.
Two law enforcement sources confirmed the resignations.”
Apparently they refuse to work if they can't assault and shoot the American people without any consequences. Good riddance to them. We need policing, but we need moral policing, not police brutality.
To the person that rated me so they can tell me to "quit crying". I'm laughing at 99% of this bull.
We have a number of cowardly and dumb posters that are unable to debate things so they leave unsigned rep messages. *shrug* It's like a dog letting off a bark and then running away. lol.
Well after 50+ years of democratic mayors in Buffalo, this is clearly Trumps fault.
I have not and never will vote for Trump.
That being said, I find the fact that these urban police forces that have created an abusive environment behind a code of silence is now suddenly the fault of the *other party*.
What a shameless and dispicable buck passing by the people that created and continue to protect these abuses. All the worse that they do that while lamenting the situation.
Just remember everyone, Rahm Emanuel (From the Obama Whitehouse) was involved in paying hush money to hide a murder in Chicago by their police and got away with it. Most people only care about BLM if it coincides with their politics. Scumbags imo.
