There is still so much the experts don’t know about this new pathogen. Honestly, I can’t say I’m surprised about Texas and Florida. They were warned and their policymakers risked the lives of their residents on politically motivated policy decisions rather than public good. These surges will only undermine consumer confidence in those states, and in the end, cost their economy more.

I'm living in Miami and I'm completely fine. If it were up to me, I would open everything - even allow large gatherings.

As far as I'm concerned, if you don't want Corona you know what to do. You wear a mask, you wash your hands, etc. Don't hold us hostage with your fears at this moment.

Miami is fine. Tourism is back to normal, probably because we're a beach town that is sort of open. If we close down, then that will hurt us economically. For those who are scared to come, don't come! We have more tourists than we can handle right now.

A very small fraction of the total population has been infected so far.
We don't know how many have been infected. 2.5 million is the known number, but several studies have shown the actual rate is 10-40 times higher than the known rate. So it could be anywhere from 25 million to 100 million have already had it.

Lol. Let me repeat what we currently have is not representative sample of the population. It is a strongly biased sample.

How do elder people get their groceries when stores are full of people with no concern for spreading the virus to others. See, its not just about you, its about what your disregard will do to others. What you are saying is like suggesting we should abolish all traffic rules, and if people are concerned about safety, they can stay home.

That is not an honest statement. Tourism in Miami is pretty far from normal. Bars are, and have been closed, and restaurants are only partially open and there are mask mandates in most indoor areas.

Current estimates are about 5% of the population. And that's with a disproportionate contribution form places like NYC-New Jersey. The percentage of infected population in TX or FL is much smaller at this point in time.

What happened to all that antibody testing? It seems like when they were consistently showing an existing infection rate 40-80 times as much as the numbers, that they were all quietly buried.

The study that showed that was severely flawed. I guess that's why it was "quietly buried", lol.
