Something is going on, this is NOT the Trump we have seen the past 3 years, MAYBE he thinks letting these thugs run amuck is going to help but folks in the suburbs want to see him DO SOMETHING to stop this THAT would help him, sitting back and watching it unfold will not help. It makes no sense to me.

His options are constitutionally limited unless the state/local officials ask for his help.

Which, if you haven't noticed, they are NOT doing.

This is a good thing about our system. We have 'anti-dictator' built in a hundred different ways. Which is why Trump's election didn't freak me out.

But Trump needs to find a way. Figure something out within the bounds of law. He's a creative guy.

No one is protecting this nation right now.

There has to be something.

A national state of emergency can be declared for civil unrest and can expand his options.

Why isn't one being declared?

He can in certain circumstances.

But he knows it's not yet reached the point where doing so would be in his best interest.

For instance, Chaz/Chop is playing with fire because he could arguably use the insurrection act against those occupying the "autonomous zone.

The ones in POWER. The Governors, the mayors, etc.

Did you happen to see Trump's letter to the Governor of IL, and Mayor of Chicago:

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings...mayor-chicago/
One would never guess that an election is coming up fast...

Maybe the start of the response should read:

Dear Mr President,

Why are we now hearing how Russia was paying to have our soldiers in theater murdered? or
Why is every over-site inspector that is looking anywhere near your interests are being terminated? or
Why is every environmental measure put in place to preserve our environment being retracted by you?

Yes letter writing can be a constructive approach to what will be a tumultuous election season...

1) Because he knows that's exactly what the Dems want him to do, so they can accuse him of being a dictator and conveniently abdicate themselves from any responsibility of what happens as a result.

2) Because it's too early. When public opinion sways further from the protests and more towards stopping the violence and destruction by any means necessary......all bets will be off.

He tried calling in the National Guard and even perhaps the military.
And look what the Dems did — they rioted even more and demonized him and republicans non stop.

What EXACTLY do you want him to do?

It’s America that can only actually do something productive to end this, and that solution is STOP VOTING FOR DEMOCRATS!!!

Trump does not have the authority to over rule the state and city mayors without a very good reason. If just one person looting and fighting back at any federal troops were killed the bias media would have a field day. It is not the job of the president to do what the cities are suspose to do. He is smart to stay away and let them resolve their own problems. After he is re-elected (and he will be) we will see SOME REAL LAW ENFORCEMENT............AND NO ONE CAN STOP IT...

Rain of pain? Seriously? People need to get some perspective. We've had protest movements before, and survived without significant impact.
