2 - Their parents can not return to work without it. I do think this one is Trump’s main motivator.

I don't think anyone desires the kids to stay home. Parents certainly want them to return. But ONLY when they can be convinced it's perfectly safe to do so. The AAP advocates for a return (and here's the key phrase) "to the maximum extent possible"

So here's are the 64 million dollar questions: "Is it safe for the students to return to school with things as they are now? Can schools built for 35-40 students per classroom manage classrooms with half that number of students? Do they have the masks to outfit 50 million students daily? Do they have the testing capacity to test 50 million students every two weeks or more frequently to make sure they haven't become infected since their last test? How much will it cost districts to retrofit thousands of schools all across the nation to safely accommodate them? Will the Federal government put up these hundreds of billions of dollars since the local tax base cannot possibly put up that kind of money? Can schools be ready in a month with all the changes that need to be made in order to get the students and teachers safely back? How can they be safe without a vaccine?

It IS damaging for kids to be stuck at home with nothing to do, true. But it is far more damaging for them to return to an unsafe school environment, get infected and carry Coronavirus home to their parents and grandparents. Unless the school districts can meet all the requirements necessary to provide a safe environment for kids and teachers, and all in a month, I cannot see them safely returning to school in August or even September. It cannot be done. The logistics are too gargantuan to overcome. Perhaps fall 2021 they can if we're extremely fortunately and they can develop a vaccine by next spring.

Democrats would know better than me. But we will continue to see a spike in crime during lockdowns.

Not that liberals are a stranger to crime, they welcome it.

The Police Executive Research Forum surveyed four cities across the country and found that crime rates in Indianapolis, Milwaukee, New York and Las Vegas have spiked since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and the reopening the country -- a fact that law enforcement leaders feared.

Middle class parents too. The wealthy like trumps friends are the only exempt from the problem.

People on welfare and unemployment are just slackers.

For a conservative you don’t have this down very well.
He's one of those guys that says the democrats were the party of slavery but wants to keep the statues of those democrats standing. He's got a long way to go.

Great parents, I'm sure, since they're so great with money.

I don’t know where you are but in CA kids can still get bagged lunches that they can pick up at schools.

Yup, any excuse to undermine public education.

You STILL don't get it. The "work harder"/ "bootstraps" line is exactly what conservatives trot out whenever they have to deal with the displeasure of interacting with the poor.

The only thing Trump and I have in common is the idea of term limits, but that was just another empty promise he made to get elected. Just like the border wall.
