Um, dude. That was YOUR reference. Since you apparently didn't read the whole article, suddenly it's lies? Oh man, you're too funny!
And BTW, The Hill is rated as one of the only neutral-bias news sites in the country.

This. But, the cult will not listen.

Yes. I bet if you stubbed your toe you'd blame Trump.

The reason we have millions infected, sick, and hundreds of thousands dead is a complex, nuanced explanation not nearly as simple as what you're trying to claim.

As an example of why the number of deaths is unreliable, the number of deaths attributed to the pandemic is deceptive because of the way they're recorded. If you test positive for Covid19 and die from a stroke without presenting any symptoms of Covid19 yet (only test positive for antibodies) then your death is marked down as a Covid19 casualty --as in, Covid19 killed you and not the stroke. This is CDC policy during pandemics and quite a few other countries are doing the same thing (like Germany and Italy).

One of the biggest reasons the country is in the current state is because we have idiots who arrogantly insist that masks don't do anything, refuse to respect social distancing, etc etc. We could nip this thing right in the ass if the general public would just **** and isolate themselves for 2 weeks like we tried doing in the beginning.

Instead of an intelligent public response, we get redneck hillbilly idiots claiming that masks don't stop germs but somehow degrade your immune system and prevent you from breathing oxygen and other mind-numbingly stupid ignorance. We even have CONGRESS PEOPLE making these blatantly false claims! On top of that, we have a bunch of other uneducated fools believing them, parroting the same ignorant falsehoods like a retarded game of telephone.

If the country would stop ****ing whining and just shut the **** up and isolate themselves for 2 weeks, EVERYBODY, all at once, this would end in 2 weeks flat.

I've given up trying to comprehend why 50% of the nation cannot grasp the magnitude of these two fact alone and continue to be starry and gooey-eyed about Trump and simply melt in his presence. I am fortunate enough to be secure financially so that, except in the catastrophic scenario I describe above, I can ride out 4 more years of Donald Trump.

But I don't think the majority of Americans are as fortunate. Under Trump I see the rich getting richer, most of Trump's admirers getting poorer even as they cheer him on and Trump making good on his promise to eliminate their Social Security and Medicare by permanently doing away with the payroll tax that funds these two critical programs.

Multi-millionaires won't be hurt if Trump cuts the payroll tax; in fact their businesses will save billions of dollars if he does. It's the poor stupid schmucks in the stands who cheer him on who are the ones who will lose their Social Security and Medicare further on down the road, and then years later when they get a letter from SS saying there is no more money in the trust fund because of Trump's cuts so the government can't send them the check they were anticipating, they'll actually look at each other and scratch their heads and ask, "Wot hoppen????" That's the incredible part: they actually won't comprehend that it was their support of Trump that caused the loss of their SS and Medicare. And frankly, it will be exactly what they deserve if they vote Trump back into office. As that old saying goes, "People get the exact leadership they deserve."

The sad fact of the matter is, there are about 200K more deaths recorded in 2020 than we'd normally expect. It's not entirely unfair to ask "how come"?

Here they postponed lots of surgeries, routine exams, etc., which has caused a huge backlog. It will take years to catch up, and for some patients it will be too late.

Agree with your comments about mask wearing and social distancing. Spot on. Where I disagree is that with you is that it's not Trump's fault. He has played a MAJOR role in why people are not following the guidelines.

To wit:

"we cannot let the cure be worse than the disease"
"#firefauci"
"it will go away on its own"
"it's a democratic hoax"
etc, etc.

Trump has no consistency of his ramblings on any topic and contradicts himself day to day. He just repeats the last thing he heard that agrees with his feelings at that particular moment. That causes confusion and people will pick and choose the words from him they want to hear. As a result, people are dying.

If you would have watched the DNC yesterday you would have seen the speech given by the a woman who lost her dad to Covid. He worshiped Trump, listened to his downplaying the risks and decided it was fine for him to go to a karaoke bar. Otherwise a healthy guy, he's dead now. She blames Trump. You can deny it all you want, but people who are losing loved ones are blaming him. Words matter.

Modern philosophers disagree about whether lying and misleading are on a moral par. On the one hand, the intention behind telling a porky and uttering a misleading sentence is the same - to con the hearer of the sentence into believing an untruth.
Dear Government Cheese in his girlfriend's sandwiches,

BBC isn't really a leftwing news source.

It's free country but it all starts at the Top. Set a bad example; mock your own public heath experts, hamstring their ability to lead and respond - then expect that millions of Americans will do the same. Viola - 170K + dead in about 6 months.
