Watching the Packers/Saints game, I just saw a Google commercial with a black man wearing a shirt that said "Black Father's Matter". This is a beautiful thing. It did not say Black Boyfriends Matter, nor did it say Black Baby Daddies Matter. It said Black Father's Matter. Could this be the beginning of something really good in the black community? A shift in their culture and thinking that will bring peace and prosperity to their neighborhoods? I think this is a total victory for a commercial from a leftist organization! This is something I can completely get on board with! What say you?

What in the AF? Marital status and fatherhood have what to do with each other?

How do you compare a father to a boyfriend?

What makes a father a father is how well he takes care of his kids.

Damage control.

This should have been the main message from day one, not several years later.

Fatherhood should just be a normal aspect of every group of people & culture -- the fact that ads have to be run to remind black people that "father's matter" just goes to show how far down the hole black culture has sunk in America. How do you repair a people & culture where 70% of the children are born out of wedlock? Satan has a vise grip on black Americans, I pray that they will overcome.

With 77% of black children born to unwed moms, it's a good message for sure.

I would have thought that as a kid who grew up not knowing his father, being a good dad would have been a larger message during the Obama presidency.

Granted, it was not as good as Black Husbands Matter would have been, but it's a decent start.

Again, you have things confused. What the child most requires is both a father and a mother being the ideal, having nothing whatsoever to do with marital status.

No confusion here. I agree that a child of any color requires both a full time father and mother to obtain an ideal upbringing. Problem is, the black community lacks severely in this category, married or not.

How is a black husband more important than father?

I'm kind of leaning with you. A father is a father when he acts like a father.
