“The past couple of months officers’ names have been researched by protesters to put personal information out to the public, putting the safety of their families in jeopardy,” said a statement from RPD Chief La’Ron Singletary, who announced his resignation earlier this week.
“Officers have been allowed to remove their name tags in an effort to prevent their personal information from being spread on social media,” Singletary added
Fascist Leftists have pulled up police officer's kids and their pictures and schools on their cell phones and used it to threaten cops. Gotten phone numbers to the officer's parents from online and then called the parent in front of the cop. Threatened cops with I know where your wife works.

I say good because it would be easy for someone to get the name and then go to that officers house and do something stupid. With just a number being displayed it would require a bit more work to find out where the officer lives.
