It's a stupid move unless there's a vaccine or something else available to drastically slow down the virus' spread.
It's impossible to build herd immunity when the disease is outrunning the immunity. The herd immunity only builds when the disease progresses slowly, as the herd immunity is even slower to develop.
Depending on it for a fast-moving disease like Covid is a recipe for disaster in a state like Florida at this time of year. Within 60 days, how many folks will be going to Florida to escape the winter? I don't know how many that will be, but some are bringing Covid with them, and in Florida's warmth and humidity, Covid flourishes like death orchids.
