The short version is D.C. becomes a State, with the right to taxation by representation, 1 House member, and 2 Senate members.
The prophet in me feels the GOP and many right wingers on CD will lose their collective bowels saying why it should not happen.
everyone should be saying this should not happen, at least not just with a congressional vote
the fact is that The US Constitution designed the capitol be a federal district, and the district is therefore not a part of any U.S. state. The states of Maryland and Virginia each donated land to form the federal district.
The District of Columbia Voting rights Amendment would allow DC residents to vote in Maryland or Virginia for their congressional representatives, with the District of Columbia remaining an independent entity. This was in effect from 1790 to 1801, and should be re-instated
Democrats can NOT MAKE DC a state...its a voted choice of that territory(district) , then voted by congress, then must be approved by 3/4 of the other 50 states
Statehood means they'll have to take of their needs through their state budget. That also means taxing state residents and businesses. I like it think of all the revenue they could generate just by implementing a wage tax. Wouldn't even need a state income tax.

Why suddenly make our one and only federal city into a full blown state, unless it's because court packing wannabe Democrats are assured that it will provide two more seats for their Party in the Senate? Ummm... there is no other reason than that.

Why would the law matter to the same lawless politicians who trying to remove a private citizen from the office of the president, which of course he does not hold, without the chief justice of the SCOTUS taking part?

Other than the people that live in DC and pay taxes without representation.

You might want to check your history. The Constitution calls for a federal district. It did not define the minimum size of it, just the maximum (10 square miles)
