The republican solution is to build a wall, the real solution lies in assisting Central America that has been devastated by hurricanes. Either way we are going to pay, these people have nothing to lose. If they could develop a more sustainable economy they wouldn't be traveling here. Do you want to address the symptom or the problem.

Default Shades of Solyndra, and that 4 billion$ lost was a good investment

The US has been negligent in focusing on SA/Central america over the past many administrations. As a result their excrement flows north and foreign adversaries are provided a foot hold.

It makes sense to 'work' with those countries.

It makes zero sense and in the best socialist democrat fashion, proclaim that huge amounts of cash will be given to improve QOL in those sholes. Makes biden/SDs look like humanitarians. So willing to squander taxpayer cash for the sole purpose of garnering favorable publicity for their party.

Problem is the left never ever monitors or conditions those lavish payments which go to corrupt officials' private bank accounts.

If Trump gave 4 billion, we can be sure it was conditional and there would be a quid pro quo in our favor.

To hear biden is giving away 4 billion is to know the cash will be wasted and no positive impact will be realized. This is keeping in the honored tradition of Obama proclaiming the 500$$ million dollars lost on Solyndra, "was a good investment" ........of hard earned taxpayer cash.

If the cost to taxpayers is counted after the illegal aliens enter the US, for food stamps, lawyers, education and housing, etc., 4billion dollars to the south is amere pittance of what the total cost actually is.

Like the obama admin who spent 500 million dollars to train syrian rebels and admitted to congress that one or two rebels completed the training program. Expect the same from Biden's efforts in SA/CA.

Unmitigated foreign relations policies failures were the obama biden legacy. now the same advisors who blundered their way through 8 years of a novelty election winner are back to calling the shots. Good luck USA taxpayers.

Biden said all along the plan is to straighten out the living situation in Central America, to stop the flow of immigrants coming into the USA from Central America. They are running away from Central America for a reason and the solution is fixable. Biden's trying to get them to have a reason to stay in their homeland rather than flee to the USA. Biden's been talking about this solution for several years.

Stopping the wall has paid for this $4 billion with a lot extra to spare. A lot of these immigrants end up being legal refugees because the are fleeing violence and persecution. So the wall wouldn't stop them anyway, because they meet the legal criteria to enter the US as refugees.

We should not be giving money away when our country is in such bad shape. We don’t owe other countries, especially when it’s their own leadership causing their problems.

Joe Biden's web site explains the plan. It's paid for already and there is a plan for private enterprise to get involved. The goal is to stop the migration flow of immigrants into the USA.

Quote:
...ensuring that the nations of Central America–especially El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, the Northern Triangle countries–are strong, secure, and capable of delivering futures of opportunity for their own people. Currently, the Northern Triangle faces enormous challenges from violence, transnational criminal organizations, poverty, and corrupt and ineffective public institutions. This is forcing too many families, unaccompanied children, and adults to make an untenable choice: leave behind everything they know and undertake a dangerous journey to seek a better life, or stay and live under the constant threat of violence, persecution, hopelessness, or even death.

The most effective and sustainable way to reduce migration from the Northern Triangle is to comprehensively address its root causes–the factors pushing people to leave their countries in the first place–because he’s done it before. As the point-person for the Obama-Biden Administration to address the surge of unaccompanied minors from the Northern Triangle in 2014, Biden successfully built consensus among Democrats and Republicans in Congress in favor of a multi-year strategy to reduce irregular migration.

Biden’s strategy engaged the leaders of the region to take responsibility for improving economic prosperity through poverty reduction and regional integration programs, deepened security cooperation to reduce gang violence and combat transnational criminal organizations, and strengthened institutions through technical assistance that improved governance and transparent fiscal management. The Biden approach reduced violence and helped to ensure that families and children remained in their home countries. Despite this success, since assuming office, the Trump Administration has delayed, reduced, or diverted assistance to Central America–a counterproductive policy that has been rejected by congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle

Biden will renew a robust commitment to U.S. leadership in the region and pursue a comprehensive strategy for Central America by:
  • Developing a comprehensive four-year, $4 billion regional strategy to address factors driving migration from Central America;
  • Mobilizing private investment in the region;
  • Improving security and rule of law;
  • Addressing endemic corruption;
  • Prioritizing poverty reduction and economic development.
Biden will renew the U.S. commitment to tackling the root causes driving migration with an integrated, four-year, $4 billion regional strategy that:
  • Requires countries to allocate a substantial amount of their own resources and undertake significant, concrete, and verifiable reforms;
  • Places strong conditions for verifiable progress to ensure that U.S. taxpayer funds are used effectively;
  • Puts combating corruption at the heart of U.S. policy in Central America;
  • Marshals private sector investment, including through public-private partnerships, to supplement government funds;
To pay for this investment in the future of our region, Biden will reprioritize money away from the Department of Homeland Security’s budget for detention,

They are running away from Central America as well as South America because of the USA's illegal narcotics problems. Legalize drugs here and allow people to start growing the stuff in the USA as well as drop the war on drugs and watch the problems work itself out.

Where is Biden going to get the 4 billion from? Congress would have to approve it first. He shouldn't be promising things he doesn't even know if he can get.
