Both articles give plenty of evidence. There is no final proof because China won't allow investigations. Just dismissing this because there is no absolute proof is very strange.

Not just 'other people'. Fauci has been out there as a major medical researcher, teacher and leader for over 4 decades now. You don't get there and stay there because of gut feelings or political nonsense. You get and stay there because of your knowledge and provable results long term for the betterment of patients and mankind. Constantly vetted by peers and others all around the world already for decades, Fauci is simply the best in the world. And of course he is not always right.
And you're speaking on this from experience, or is it just something you wish were true, or what?
I don't have personal experience maintaining a roost at the top of a major governmental agency for several decades, but intuitively it would seem to involve a lot of playing politics. Do you really think otherwise?
Obviously, you prefer not to believe it. If you had actually read the articles, you would know that a lab accident is currently the most plausible theory.
There are articles in scientific journals about the gain-of-function research on bat viruses, which you might not be aware of. That is NOT speculation.

Fauci is a politician as well as a doctor. We don't know exactly why he got where he is.

I'm a now retired internist and have followed Fauci since the early AIDS days. 40 years. Epidemics are very sporadic and he has been directly involved and gained experience in many.

With his knowledge, skill and persistent engagement with related immune, infectious diseases and epidemics over the years the medical communities themselves have continued to elevate him and keep him at the very top. His White House experience began during the Reagan years with AIDS. Reagan was not yet on board.
