I'm sure I can guess who you think is responsible, chicken little. Sheez, when are y'all gone grow up, take some responsibility for your own malfeasance, quit shunting the blame elsewhere?

GO USA!
I'd have to agree with the others that this post is nothing short of idiotic.

Deal with it?

Deal with what?? The cost of groceries tripling? Airlines going bankrupt? Cost of mass transit tripling? Utilities skyrocketing?

You must have no idea what 'cause and effect' are. If prices go up, our nation will shut down. Doi.

The US, at just a mere 4% of the world's total population, uses 25% of the world's oil and 29% of all non-oil resources.

The real idiot is the one who seriously believes the US can continue using and abusing that amount of resources indefinitely with no consequences whatsoever.

I would argue they have a moral and ethical duty to sell oil in any currency, but US$. That will, of course, reduce the demand for US$ on the world market and the US$ will decline against other currencies, but if that, and the rest of the world selling other commodities like natural gas, coal, wheat, rice, corn, soy beans and other grains in any currency but US$ is what it takes to force Americans to reduce their piggish consumption, then so be it. And be glad.
Expecting China and Russia to be moral or ethical about anything is a bit delusional and naive but
at least now we know where your coming from !

It's for your own benefit.

The delusional and naive person is the one who thinks the US can continue to use 29% of the world's non-oil resources, effectively blocking and limiting the growth of the vast majority of people on the planet, and that the rest of the world will do nothing, except sit there and take it.

In order for Indians to have the same life-style as Americans, they would have to use 116% of the world's resources. That, of course, is a mathematical impossibility, not to mention it assumes that the rest of the world, including the US, is using no resources (perhaps because they were nuked into oblivion).

For Indians and Chinese to have a life-style that is half of what hedonistic Americans are accustomed to indulging themselves, means a total use of 104%. Again, a mathematical impossibility which also rests on the assumption that the rest of the world uses no resources.

I guess having your son/daughter or grand-son/daughter die in a foreign land screaming "Mama!" while trying to stuff their intestines and the rest of their guts back into their body so you can have Chlorox disposable kitchen wipes or so the US Dollar can be mighty and all-powerful again is something that doesn't bother you.

Right now, you still have a choice, and you still have the time to shape your future into something better. You can enact legislation to bar urban sprawl, build mass transit systems and shift resources around to reorganize the economy. Sure, you'll permanently lose about 52 Million jobs and it will be like the 1950s with one-car families, limited use of your vehicle, 78% of households will have only one wage earner, people will eventually come to accept "house-husbands" just like house-wives, there won't be anything "disposable" to buy on your grocery shelves and product selection will be very limited, but at least you'll be alive.

If you don't make the right choices now, then your future will be dictated to you, and it will be considerably less pleasant, so you should seriously consider the alternatives, act now, don't delay, offer void where prohibited.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of you will realize that until you see the brilliant greenish-white flash of a 750 kt nuclear war head about 42 miles up in the sky. Maybe as you're being propelled along through the air at Mach 1.8 by the leading edge of the blast wave you'll have time to ponder the error of your ways, just before you have a close encounter with a stationary object and get turned into a pile of goo.

Cry me a river you bleeding heart, as you sit at your computer in your climate controlled home, oh and im sure you have clorox wipes under that kitchen sink you also have...

What have you done to rectify the situation...? Are you considered a "fat person" by any chance???... I would think not because you probably donate alot of your food to people who need it... Do you own a car? Do you own a fancy bicycle?

Keep living out your own crime...

WOW!!! WOW!!!, So many asumptions, so many misconceptions! WOW!! So much confusion and ignorance, I dont know where to begin. I'm Guessing Dennis Kucinich was your man? Well here we go well try to help you, although considering the borderline anarchist, Anti-American tone of your post it will be an effort in futility. Now listen up, I know this is going to be very difficult but just try, The worlds resources are not finite, it is not a zero-sum game, there will be technology and resources arise that we have no clue about right now,. You dont help the rest of the world, the poorer, less advanced, third world countries, by becoming more like them! We help them, by being that shining city on the hill, lifting them up showing the way, being strong for the weak! Your doom and gloom pessimistic, Socialist mentality has never helped anyone anywhere in the world, but I am guessing you know that. War for clorox wipes? Dude you have got to get out more!

It's a dog eat dog world. Strong China = Weak US. As an American, I prefer the opposite.

If you want to complain about the cost of things here than Tax the rich. Hit them very hard. Take 95-99% of their assets above the first 5 million dollars or so.
I don't like this attitude at all.... If you tax the rich that much, there is no incentive to BECOME rich. Why try at anything?

Listen, I agree that under Bush, the rich have gotten way too powerful at the expense of the other 95% of the country. But your scenario is vengeful and unfair. YES stop outsourcing. YES stop windfall profits. NO, we cannot punish the rich and make them second-class citizens.
