Y'all wouldn't be too pleased if we started taking out men who terrorize women with impunity.
I wish you would put this much energy into making sure that more than a handful of rapists ever saw a jail cell and that domestic abusers are prevented from accessing firearms.
Are you saying only 5 rapists have ever seen a jail cell?
Criminals often steal firearms from law abiding firearm owners. Throw the criminals in jail, especially the repeat offenders and don’t let them cycle through the revolving door of justice.
Mmm-hm. Just so happened to expire at the same time a bad cop was kneeling on his neck. Pure koinkydink.
still this is a bad day for the American judicial system, as this precedent diminishes your rights as it blurs the line between murder and manslaughter
I think there was wrong-doing on the part of the police, but I wasn't convinced that what he did was criminal. And this means that the other three officers will likely be found guilty.
Second-degree murder generally requires malice and intentionality on the part of Chauvin and the other officers. As heart-wrenching as the video was to watch, there was never any implication that they killed George Floyd intentionally, or had any malice towards him.
I expected maybe manslaughter, but the second-degree murder charge makes no sense. I don't see how this outcome can be anything but political.
I believe the charge was second degree unintentional murder.
Behavior such as Chauvin's tarnishes the badge and sows distrust of the police in the community. So much so that in a relatively rare act other officers testified against him.
He had a massive dose of lethal drugs in his system. He was dying already.
So Chauvin figured he would make sure he died there on the street with his knee on his neck instead of calling for an ambulance? Murdering him was Chauvin's best and only option? Is that really the argument you want to make?
Like I said, your posts in this thread are unintentionally hilarious.
George faked his inability to breathe. I mean, seriously?
I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying, and that's how it should be, but not everyone supports the police in general (please tell me that you honestly don't think that).
These events should not be politicized to begin with. When they become politicized they become polarized. As I said in another thread, a bad police officer is a societal problem, not a black or white problem, nor rich or poor. A bad police officer is a liability to the community and to the force, and as you said, should be held accountable, but if these events are politicized it can interfere with the outcome.
I'm glad that justice was served in this case.
Great post! I'm not 100% convinced justice was served, but I agree with your overall assessment.

They claim it's okay since it's a part of protesting.
