Republicans have no balls. The Democrats are trying to ram through DC and soon Puerto Rico statehood. Republicans must threaten to use the nuclear option of secession for all the states they control. GOP control quite a large number of state legislatures and governors.

If DC statehood passes as well as Puerto Rico, the GOP will never again have any chance of winning the house, senate or white house. GOP need to be taking this as an existential threat and use every weapon available.

Sadly, the GOP is spineless and likely wont do anything.

GOP rammed through Justice Barrett, even when doing so required immense hypocrisy on their part. That took balls.

They won't do it. They love the money and their precious careers in big gov just as much as democrats. Maybe more so. If push ever came to shove, the democrats would be the ones willing to secede, but so long as they have power in their back pockets, there is no need. Think about it... Democrats are willing to burn down their own cities for literally no reason at all. They don't value things like careers, unity and civilization quite as much as the republicans do.

It's difficult to decide who are the biggest losers in all this... Disorderly and destructive democrats or RINOs/Romneycrats.

For claiming to be the only "real Americans" and "true patriots", Republicans sure talk a lot about how much they hate this country and our constitution.

I wonder how many secession threads we've seen on C-D since January. There's been quite a few I think. Some dedicated to specific states (e.g., Texas), some like this. Secession of "Republican controlled" states is really not practical or realistic if you think about it. Look at how messy Brexit has been, and that's nothing compared to what this secession would be. The economy is too interdependent. Plus the votes aren't there. It isn;t up to the individual states.

Where did anyone say that?

It was the democrats who seceded in the past, in their defense of slavery, an inhumane and evil institution. But, they were welcomed back into the union with open arms. The thanks for their generosity and forgiveness was an assassinated republican president.

Did either of you contact your representatives/senators?

Statehood for DC makes no sense. You don't want the federal government on territory controlled by a state government.

Puerto Rico, on the other hand, makes more sense.

Republicans are not supportive of a secession. Perhaps there are Trump supporting rinos that do, but the larger party does not.

Part of me thinks it would be nice to give the Southern Baptist Church a state to rule with an iron fist as they see fit. That way people who want to be free of having to coexist with LGBTQ people, dark skinned people who don't stay in their place, and people who don't believe in a literal interpretation of the Bible could have what they demand and the rest of us could move on with life in the 21st century.

Never happen. The democrats need the "high" of feeling they are making a certain percentage of the population miserable. If they only had like-minded individuals in their ****hole, there wouldn't be any satisfaction in that at all. Think of it as a bad marriage where one spouse refuses to allow a divorce on the grounds that he (or she) would have nobody to beat on nightly.
