When the student asked his professor whether she would call police in an emergency, she claimed she wouldn't call law enforcement because she doesn't trust them.
'My life's more in danger in their presence… I wouldn't call anybody,' she said.
When Ellis questioned what she would do if an intruder came into her home, the professor said the class was over.
Cypress College takes great pride in fostering a learning environment for students where ideas and opinions are exchanged as a vital piece of the educational journey.
Our community fully embraces this culture; students often defend one another's rights to express themselves freely, even when opinions differ.
Any efforts to suppress free and respectful expression on our campus will not be tolerated.
The adjunct professor will be taking a leave of absence for the duration of her assignment at Cypress College. This was her first course at Cypress and she had previously indicated her intention to not return in the fall.
Adjunct professors are not on a tenure track. How would waiting do anything?
It's interesting when people not familiar with college pretend to know about it.
I use to be an adjunct.
Many people do it in hopes of obtaining a tenure track position, it is called "work experience". Others are quite happy with the flexibility and general work conditions of being an adjunct.
In this case, I made an assumption the adjunct eventually wants to be a tenured professor, as numerous ones ultimately want to do.
I wouldnt call police in an emergency either! I would deal with it on my own, I feel confident that Im capable of that, if Im wrong, so be it...I would accept that too.

So if someone started shooting and killing people in front of you, you would not call the police? Or if you saw someone kidnap a kid, you would not call the police?
Students challenging and "inappropriately questioning" woke professors is described as "white violence".
Quote:
Students behaving aggressively in the classroom also play a role in derailing tenure. White students disproportionately challenge the authority of BIPOC women and are twice as likely to inappropriately question them when being taught about social justice issues (e.g., systemic racism). Eric Grollman notes that “There are scholars who’ve been attacked for what they teach in the classroom” and that these experiences are not “anecdotal” or “isolated” incidents. They are unfortunately common features for these women, as evidenced by the research on their raced and gendered classroom experiences. Unfortunately, as Saida Grundy elaborates in her article “A history of white violence tells us attacks on black academics are not ending (I know because it happened to me),” BIPOC women are alert to the fact they could be next to be attacked.

The concept of a tenured professor at a community college is strange. All you need is "work experience" at a community college?

There they go again with equating words and opinions to Violence.
And consequentially, it justifies Violence as a response in their minds.
They also always make up some correlation.
Is it really Teachers of color getting resistance because they are POC, or is it their message that they are being resisted against?
