-(Governor gives a bonus, of course compensation is one of the things that attracts top talent)

-"OMG, how dare he give more money to cops!"

In the defense of bonuses, a $1000 annual pay increase spread out over 24-26 paychecks would have less impact than an immediate in-full payment. Consider the impact of immediate stimulus payments vs spread out over a year.

Perhaps both a raise and bonus are warranted.

I think because of the non stop historical precedents that exist, im going to have to disagree.

Give them a 2K raise then. But bonuses are damaging to countries political stability when given to those with guns.

The cops deserve very single penny of that and more. I don`t see many fast food workers, putting their lives on the line, and dealing with the scum of the earth like blm. Cops deal in trash every day, and now are afraid to even defend themselves, for fear of being arrested or fired for it.

Quick-who is more likely to die at work? The guy delivering pizzas, or the cop?

But the other side of it is.....yup. They went to work every day-just like everyone else for the most part. Is he giving money to fast food workers? How about doctors? Nurses?

Nope. Hes funding the folks with guns that he wants to support him.

LOL DeSantis is the furthest thing from Authoritarian. Why do you have an issue with a Governor who refuses to let rioters who pose as protesters destroy towns and cities? They should be arrested, and not a single loony leftist politician should have the power and funds to bail them out. DeSantis got it right; he protected the elderly, and then the age group right under them, because he knew younger ages groups/teens/kids had a smaller chance of actual dying from the virus.

He's funding the police force because blue counties in Florida tried to defund them. The law he passed will now prevent them from doing so and he can go after them at a state level. Who's to say he isn't planning on helping people in the medical field as well? Guess we will wait and see.

Yes, they are. And they're all local extreme leftist news sources who have been against him since he got elected. The fact that multiple Democrats including a mayor coming to his defense about the heavily edited piece from 60 Minutes about Publix should tell you something. It's why Publix is suing CBS since they refused to retract the footage.

Sounds like the only person in their feelings is you. Face it, DeSantis got it right. There's a reason why more people are flocking to Florida. FREEDOM. Their economy is doing quite well, businesses are thriving, Critical Race Theory has been banned from the Florida public school system, cruises can operate soon, schools are open, the police are being supported, and the mask mandate is over. People are allowed to LIVE again!

So what's the issue here? Because it sounds to me like you enjoy the riots, the lockdowns, and seeing our police be treated like crap.

Sure. Throughout history one of the ways that politicians came to power was by bribing the soldiers and police of a nation. Often using them in various ways to make sue they won the "election".

You can see this especially throughout the history of Rome for example. And resulted in a ton of unrest and just utter insanity.

Quite disappointing if true. That is some Warren/Sanders/Trump vote buying nonsense right there.
