I’m just trying to understand the joys of living in NY, making $20/ hr, living in your car. What is the attraction?

People need a basic Understanding and education in micro and macro economics in this country. What pricing works along with demand curves along with elasticity. If you flood the country with millions of new immigrant and flood the country with dollars there are real and lasting substantial impacts to those actions. A lower paying manual labor job in nyc with rent inflation are two of those impacts.

None, but working on Wall Street making $3 million/year and living in a high-rise penthouse in Manhattan? Now we’re talkin’!

The median asking rent for a one bedroom in New York City in June was about $2500
Huh.. I live just outside of Albany and I have a large 1 br that I've been paying a mere $685 for since moving in nearly 5.5 years ago. Decent neighborhood and landlord lives on the premises.

That's NYC. The rest of the state has a much more reasonable CoL. I do very well on $16/hr just a, stone's throw outside of Albany. A lot quieter and a LOT less senseless violence, too

That's an awful lot of buzzwords there.

I live generally an hour away from Projects I work on, sometimes further, for the very reason of lower cost of living expenses.
Substantially lower.

How much is rail/ubway fare? I assume it's near $20 r/t, or about 12% of an 8-hour day's pay.

Not saying it isn't doable, but it's not easy-peasy either.

Not to mention` the 2-3 added hours per day in commuting, for which there is no pay, and probably prohibits a second job.

why cant she ask for a transfer ?
if AMZN does not pay her enough, then find another job.
The other day I was standing next to a guy at the fish market,he works for AMZN warehouse making $18 and soon $19 and he is HAPPY.
Down in the south,it is not unusual for some hispanic workers sharing an apt and making much less.

Does Amazon pay relocation expenses? My guess is someome struggling to get by doesn't have the several thousands in savings to relocate.
