You cannot reason with the Taliban, you need to bully them.

No way, there are only a few hundred US civilians (even all them are holding a passport ) still in Afgh. I believe there are at least few thousand passport holders in Afgh. There is ~10% of fly-out are US citizens.

Heard the first few seconds "we were totally in control" followed by "the Biden administration is very, very bad" that was enough nonsense and a waste of time.

"Set the record straight" does he have any facts or just the usual bluster.

Obama Administration created instability and humanitarian crisis in parts of North Africa, Syria.
Biden Administration is carrying out the sane work and created this situation in Afghanistan.
They are always busy in creating an unsafe world.
Look at the plight of Refugees. This crisis will affect lot of countries.
Syria under Obama and now Afghanistan under Biden. Absolute Shambles !!
Democrats - people who vote for them should share some responsibility for this crisis.

The Taliban told Trump they would not allow the Afghan Government at the bargaining table in Feb 2020. The Afghan Government that we spent 20 years building was denied participation, so much for that claim. Now Trump is attempting to sell himself as a strong leader.

Biden took over in January. Blaming Trump is no way to be a Biden cheerleader.

The release of the American and Afghan names is treason. Have you figured out yet why every decision is contrary to accepted rational law in our country?

Actions speak much louder than words.

Biden crippled the Afghan militarily and appeased the Taliban, his actions were erratic.

Trump's plan was to have been fully supporting the government and military while processing visas and sending Afghana and Americans home.

The unsafe world began when we decided to invade Iraq and Afghanistan - both under a GOP president.

Iraq, in particular, was without any basis in fact an ego trip on the part of Cheney and Bush who LIED AND MANUFACTURED 'evidence' to convince the Congress to authorize war.

Joe Wilson told the truth, Bush/Cheney in retaliation outed his wife CIA operative Valerie Plame.
Wilson’s confrontation with the White House was set in motion in 2002 when the CIA asked him to fly to Niger and confirm reports the country had, in the 1990s, sold uranium yellowcakes to Saddam Hussein so he could build a nuclear weapon.

A former ambassador to Gabon who had spent much of his 23-year diplomatic career working in Africa, Wilson was a private citizen at the time.

Wilson found no evidence that Niger had made such a sale to Iraq and reported that to the CIA.

He was stunned when President George W. Bush declared in his January 2003 State of the Union Address that the British government had learned that Hussein “recently bought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.

The result of our Iraq invasion has been a complete blowup in the Middle East, continual overthrow of dictators, millions and millions of refugees from these war-torn areas moving to countries antithetical to their culture - resulting in instability and hostility everywhere - and the spread of terrorism.

The Iraq invasion and our activities thereafter made terrorism worse - not better.

Upthread someone posted a very good analysis of why brutal dictatorships are necessary in these areas. Leaders of those countries KNOW how to handle their people. We should have let them alone. I've read similar over the years and agree with it:

This would require openly abolishing Islam as a religion in Afghanistan and replacing it with a secular or atheist ideology - like the Soviets tried to do in the 1980s. They would round up any mullahs or imams and give them a bullet in the back of the neck.

If you think this is controversial it really is not. Various Middle Eastern dictators like Qaddafi, Assad (father and son), Saddam Hussein, various Turkish generals over the decades, and Mubarak all did the same thing.

These men all came from that cultural and religious background. They recognized the dangers of a religion that supports - honor killings, cousin marriage, death for apostates, rooftop treatment for lgbtq, female genital mutilation, death to non-Christian/Jewish faiths like Buddhists, Hindus, etc. (deemed idol worshippers and thus not qualifying for the jizya tax).
Now it is too late - the genie is long out of the bottle - and the world is a continuing hellhole because of it.

This is all on us now - both parties - but begun by the GOP.

Interesting, even FOX news is now saying we should never have implemented the Trump plan, but should have stayed in Afghanistan. That is my belief, as well.
