But I can’t delude myself into thinking that I have the training or nerves to overcome the adrenaline dump if “it” hits the fan. If I draw and raise the stakes to life and death, I don’t have the skills to really call that bluff, and that’s why I’ve never sought to carry.
Not really...we're thirty plus years in! Your exact argument was made over and over back in the 90's when states started issuing CCWs...people with your sentiment cried that it would be the wild west all over again and there would be shootouts in the streets daily. ....It never happened.

Yet, this rallying cry happens each and every time gun laws are relaxed.

Some of those states are among the nation's meth capitals and yet they refuse to legalize pot. Laws against guns don't stop their distribution and neither do laws against pot. Stupidity on both sides.

Texans had better get on the ball. 15 days and no shootings you say? Damn, Texans are going soft. My condolences.

celebration is premature, background checks are STILL required for firearm purchases, class 3 laws STILL exist. We are still far away from the way it is was intended in this country.

That is the only way.
A friend in New Zealand says that very few turned in their guns.

I was just talking about Texas, as was the OP, but yeah I get the 30 year thing I’d you include other states.

Nowhere did I claim it would be a Wild West thing with constant shootouts? What is my sentiment? I only shared why it won’t affect me much as an individual.

Do you still have to apply via the county sheriff or police chief where you live? I've always believe that was absurd.

Yes, and they'll stick it to you for 500 bucks too before it's over.

Id love to know who in their right mind thought 'police' were the best ones to deal with firearm licensing?!!!

They would be the LAST group I would delegate this to! (for obvious reasons)

You don't need any permit here. But our sheriff runs the CCW classes. He says that anyone who can legally carry, should carry.
