The implicit understanding behind Critical Race Theory is that you must denigrate American history since the founding of this nation and destroy the pride of people of European descent in order for blacks and other minorities to feel emboldened.
Critical Race Theory is not just an educational tool. It is a racial power struggle. It's about remaking America into something fundamentally different than what it's been for the last 245 years.
It teaches racial stereotypes, accuses children of being racist, implies that children are responsible for past horrible historic events, and insists that children must account for the sins of others.
Simple enough.
PS. It has NOTHING to do with history. It's about guilt, blame, shame, and anger.
Yeah that’s the point, intentionally vague to continually move the goalposts. First it’s “George Washington owned slaves” then it will be “let’s destroy Mount Rushmore.”
Why do you think critical race theory should be taught in schools?
As for me? I'm not against CRT or for it. However, the ideology and concept are too difficult to teach from k to 12 and should remain in academic levels like the university and or grad school. I know that the education system in the United States and the wider white Anglo spheric nations adopted DIE or Diversity Inclusion and Equity from the capitalist corporate system and add CRT concepts into the mix and claim it's not CRT.
What makes CRT difficult is its tenents. Like its father Marxism. Crt is critical of liberalism and capitalism. CRT essentialize race in which blacks are oppressed and whites are the oppressors via laws in government and economics. Then you have story telling of one's experience which is gospel. CRT looks simple but it's not.
CRT stems from Critical Theory which came out of the Frankfurt school who adopted Neo-Marxism in which class is no longer the focus instead one's identity of gender, race, orientation, religion instead of orthodox Marxism which is class and land focused. Critical Theorist like Marcuse, Gramsci were critical of Europe not going through a revolution like what Russia went through. Also Russia with the Soviets, the Soviets went back to somewhat traditional Russian culture. Critical Theorist are critical of Capitalism, and liberalism like Marx, but are also critical of Marxist too. This is the reason why people on here should not call CRT followers Marxist because it is not Marxist. The Capitalist class will most likely support Critical Theorist Marxist instead of a traditional Marxist because the Orthodox Marxist want to eliminate the bourgeoisie, class and land, while the critical theorist Marxist won't do such that. So, if you are a capitalist. Who would you support? Would you support or fund Bernie Sanders, or BLM? The Capitalist would support BLM and do not see BLM as a threat with their Neomarxist ideology vs Bernie who is somewhat of a traditional but reformed orthodox Marxist.
Why did CRT blow up? The United States started to go through a moral panic in the last decade. Just like other Moral Panics like the Red Scare and the Satanic Panic of the past. People in America want to feel safe from harm and without fear. The United States started to go through a White Supremacy moral panic during the 2010s which was pushed by Academia. Academics started to scan, and scan for racism, and pushed it more to the forefront with media and journalism. Trump gets elected and the panic is pushed more. The Death of George Floyd was the tipping point of the White Supremacy Moral Panic. With this tipping point, those that be from Academia to mainline white protestant churches wanted to solve the age old question of race in America. Capitalist still want to use DEI or DIE concepts from the workplace to schools. Some want to try Antiracism concept which is championed by gurus Ibram X Kendi and Robin Di Angelo who claim to be race experts. Than you have CRT. CRT was created by Harvard law student Dereck Bell who was critical of MLK colorblind movement and critical about the civil rights movement not bringing rights for blacks equally. CRT evolved to adding Crenshaws intersectionality concepts, and also add equity to the ideology.
For every action there is an equal reaction. CRT became a moral panic on its own just how white supremacy became a moral panic for the left within the privilege white Anglo Saxon world. Two men, one a journalist and the other an academic. Both are considered an apostate in journalistic and academic spaces. Those men are Christopher Rufo and James Lindsay who both turned CRT into a moral panic of its own.
BTW CRT is not about teaching correct history in school like the tulsa riots. It's mainly about laws and concepts that are on the books still racists to blacks, so they say.
