Because all they really care about is compliance theatre.
...and because of all the studies in the paper released by the W.H.O. back in 2019. Their study of a dozen other studies proved that even when the general public is issued N95 masks, and surgical masks, etc..., that they do not wear them improperly, fidget with them, and their use becomes ineffective.

Back in Oct 2019, the W.H.O. released a study that reviewed ten “high-quality randomized controlled trials” from 2006-2018. The result “demonstrated that personal measures (e.g. hand hygiene and face masks) have at best a small effect on transmission of the influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus.” “Ten RCTs were included in meta-analysis, and there was no evidence that face masks are effective in reducing transmission of laboratory-confirmed influenza.”

Both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 are approx 0.1 microns. Even though the N95 mask is only officially designated to filter out 0.3 microns, it uses a static charge to do this, so it still filters out most particles that are smaller than 0.3. But the longer you wear the mask, the less it's able to block these smaller particles.

I am also seeing more people wearing an N95 mask. Some of them even had the valves, which mean the masks are only to protect them from us. I am assuming they were told by their doctors to wear them when out in public, because just looking at the age and apparent health of the person, they look to be in the highest risk categories. Hopefully they are wearing it properly.

Wear an N95 mask or don't even bother.

If you feel you need a mask, why not use the best mask for the purpose?

Why wear something less than ideal or simply useless when N95's are readily available and affordable?

In 2 years I can count on one hand the amount of people I’ve seen with an N95 or even anything effective.
It’s not the covid-19 pandemic.
It’s the great swindle of 2020. And beyond.
How does one swindle people who can read directions and know how to listen to what is being said?

That's why we started wearing N95s when they were available. Before that, tightly woven 3 layers with a

PM 2.5 filter, laundered daily.

But this topic is useless cloth mask. I was merely pointing out there is a different between tightly woven broadcloth fabric and gauze.

Why are these "public health experts" now letting the truth come out after 2 years of COVID theater?
Has Twitter banned him yet?

The overwhelming amount of people wear a useless or close to useless cloth mask and they think they are safe. They are not.

I have always used N95 masks from day one until now. Never had an issue getting them and I have a boatload of them stocked up.

I am actually using them now simply not to get the flu or a cold.

The vast majority of people I see wearing any mask at all are wearing the surgical style or a variation of a cloth mask..

And BTW a KN95 is not equivalent to an N95.

At least not the type I see commonly being sold in hardware stores.

A summary of the study, published July 2021

“The results show that a standard surgical and three-ply cloth masks … filter at apparent efficiencies of only 12.4% and 9.8%, respectively,” according to the University of Waterloo study’s conclusion.

But KN95 and N95 masks afford “substantially higher apparent filtration efficiencies (60% and 46% for R95 and KN95 masks, respectively) than the more commonly used cloth (10%) and surgical masks (12%), and therefore are still the recommended choice in mitigating airborne disease transmission indoors.”
