There’s a joke in media about any story that involves the phrase “Florida man” because the stories that do are generally insane. Seriously, just do a quick search on it and see what comes up – it’ll be something crazy about a shopping cart, an alligator, meth, fighting a snake, or something else likely to play a role in the next Indiana Jones movie. But when it comes to how liberals talk about the Governor of the state, Trump Derangement Syndrome has a new variant, a deadlier one for which there is no treatment: DeSantis Insanity Disorder.
Quote:
DeSantis and Florida, and more accurately Florida because of DeSantis, have been under attack since the beginning of the pandemic. Refusing to cave to the fear, the Governor had faith in the people of his state to know how best to take care of themselves. It’s a novel idea, one that would never fly on the left – that you tell the public everything and trust them to make their own decisions.

Leftists never want that; an empowered public is a threat to the progressive agenda. Instead, you get talk of how Florida is a killing field, a wasteland of dead bodies and COVID infected zombies wandering the land as the Governor alternates between parties and dancing on the graves of the dead.

You see DID (DeSantis Insanity Disorder) from numerous posters on this very forum.

"DID" I like it and there is little doubt that if DeSantis does run in 2024 the Left will come out in full force as they did against Trump. DeSantis will suddenly become the greatest threat to our Democracy and the safety of the World if he should have his finger on the nuke button and of course he will be the biggest racist Hitler fascist wanna be we have ever seen.

With DeSantis the Left will tell us the sky is falling (again) but one year into the Biden admin I think people are not so gullible as they once were.

The Left will use all the same smearing on DeSantis as they did with all previous GOPs like Trump, Romney, McCain, etc. before him.

This is why I am wary of putting all our populist eggs in to one DeSantis basket. Dude better have a squeaky clean past. You've seen how they're going after Trump legally. I'm not talking about the January 6th nonsense. Take a look at how the state of New York is going after him. DeSantis or anyone else trying to take Trump's mantle will have to go through that same sort of scrutiny. DeSantis is great but we need a deep bench so when they knock one down another one pops up.

You are way overthinking it.

They fear him because he has a lot of appeal among RINOS and DINOS if he runs for president. Trump has the GOP base. Desantis has that plus a ton of swing voters.
