So to all the people who called him a traitor or said he should be executed, I expect an apology.

Here is from the big guy himself:

If you trust your government, you don't know history.

I never once thought of Mr. Snowden as a traitor. I was and continue to be glad to see someone with guts stand up for our privacy, even if the government considers his actions "treasonous". I was disappointed when President Trump didn't pardon Mr. Snowden, like it was rumored he might.

The fight goes on.

Why would Trump pardon him? It was the same 'Govt' in place, as it was when Snowden busted them...Of course they are not going to pardon him...

This is important for people to hear about...Snowden was a true patriot, (but the govt sees him as a terrorist)...whose side do you think is best to be on? LOL

Just imagine, if 10s of 1000s of armed citizens descended on DC to remove the govt from power, when Snowden broke it wide open? What would our govt have done then, what could they do? Citizens have the numbers in their favor!

A couple of nuclear warheads will take care of 10s of 1000 of citizens armed with grandad's hunting rifle or an AR. You'll have to do better than that.

Sounds like our foreign policy. If innocents die, no biggie.

You'll have to do better than that.

Snowden was so irresponsible in what he gave the Guardian and the Post that even these institutions thought some of it should not be disseminated to the public.

The Post decided to publish only four of the forty-one slides that Snowden provided. Its exercise of judgement suggests the absence of Snowden’s. Whilst the Guardian famously had there hard drives in London smashed by a team from GCHQ and the NSA.

What Snowden leaked was far more than just information regarding just bulk collection of data, and what was leaked even helped terrorist groups in relation to tactics to evade detection and surveillance.

Snowden also gave away the secrets of other nations including five eyes countries and allies, who trusted the US with their secrets.

Rather amusingly Snowden fled to Hong Kong when he knew publication of his leaks was imminent. In his interview at the time, he said he went there because “they have a spirited commitment to free speech and the right of political dissent.”

China is a well known stalwart adversary of the United States in intelligence matters and authoritarian state, and is now the biggest user of state surveillance and data in the world, whilst Hong Kong under Chinese rule is hardly the democratic state it was when Snowden fled there.

Snowden has been at the mercy of both Chinese and Russian leaders, and has been manipulated by both and used as a propaganda tool, and will now as a result be spending his life in exile in Russia.

Many see Snowden as a traitor, narcissist and hypocrite who betrayed the west in relation to intelligence gathering whilst preaching to the West from countries such as China and Russia, who have less human rights and more state surveillance than any where else.

Enjoy the rest of your life in Russia you hypocrite.

The ones being manipulated are the sellouts who see him as a traitor.
Make no mistake about it, Snowden was not responsible for what our government has been doing. It isn't about Snowden.

Everyone knows other countries sift through bulk data for the US and look for terrorist chatter, and then pass red flagged information on to the US in order to keep the US and her citizens safe.

This is how the world works and how we manage to protect ourselves against those that would do harm to us.

As for revealing secrets relating to foreign powers such as GCHQ he had no right and he is a traitor, who now takes shelter in authoritarian nations, who use him as useful propaganda.

US Laws and the US constitution do not apply outside of the US, which is why the US wants other countries to try and search for terrorist chatter or other threats.

Principled people like Snowden, may see this as wrong, however terrorists and the enemies of the west are not so principled.

Intelligence services across the world have helped stopped numerous large terrorist attacks and have saved numerous lives, and people sleep more securely in their beds due to their work.

Whilst I believe in some oversight, I do not believe in just leaking western intelligence secrets or acting as a propaganda tool for China or Putin's Russia, who will both intensely questioned Snowden in relation to western intelligence technology and methods.

If Snowden felt so passionately rather than leak intelligence secrets why didn't he just campaign for greater oversight of the system.
