Yup.
And Putin wouldn't want his own troops to become weakened and dying in the middle of a ground war.

I'm sure he will seize nuclear power plants to deny them to Ukraine, but he won't order their destruction. That's too dangerous to his own men, and if he wins the fight, the Russians will need that power to keep their control.

And he already has better nukes than reactors to fight with.

No.

I didn't survive covid just to have the US railroaded into getting into WW3 with Russia ... and China and Iran and India.

Some of the Russian tanks still have training armor on instead of reactive armor. Even worse? Some fo the ones you see that have had tires fail in the mud? The treads fine, but the sidewalls are failing because someones left them parked for a year and not turned over. This means maintenance is way way way behind.

Some farmers stole a tank. No no, not the one from yesterday. ANOTHER tank.

Russia is using area denial weapons and targeting civilians. Its called a war crime.

The damage Russia is doing to a country they have no business in is stunning, but the long term damage to the Russian economy, and its global reputation? If they backed out now it might be survivable, although a hardship. But they're becoming global pariahs.

The Ukrainians have got the world behind them for a reason. Not only are they the good guys-they've actually managed to communicate that. Letting the Russian captured soldiers call, and offer to let their moms come get them if they pick them up? pure genius. Cause you know some will.

And those poor kids will never EVER hear the end of it. "Remember when I had to go to Ukraine to pick you up? REMEMBER?"
Russia do not need the world to survive. They demonstrated that affectively after 2014 sanctions. Russia got lots of natural resources and can substitute large import with their own product. Sure it likely to be inferior to western product and it will be a shortage but that is what they did before and that is what they will do again. Also China will continue to trade with them, Israel haven't put sanctions on them. Despite India cancelling military purchase, it's likely India will do some training with Russia. Lastly remember that Putin is dictator as such how it will ultimately impact civilian population is not something that he gives a ****.

The sanctions in 2014 were nothing like this. This is the difference between getting a $10 service fee on your account....and having the bank close it.

And Putin SHOULD give a hoot. Because even dictators can end up reporting to their population if they fail too hard. Beyond that....hes breaking his country. Theres no benefit here that was worth this.

He is ruthless dictator. Read about Stalin and you will understand what I mean. Russia will not value their money using international exchange system as there not going to be any foreign trade except with few countries. Those countries will agree to value of the exchange directly. Also eventually international flights will resume, this is North Korea to where tourist do not want to fly. Putin will be in power until he dies and one will be able to overthrow him. Lastly natural gas/oil to Europe will continue to flow as otherwise Europe will freeze to death and there is not good substitutes available quickly unfortunately.

I’ll just leave this here:

Nobody sees how strange and almost unbelievable this entire scenario is playing out yet?

Non-nuclear weapons didn't work on Japan in WWII.
Won't work on Russians.

The U.S. nuclear policy is a deterant. Launch after the enemy launches.
You got 10 to 15 minutes to launch back.

To create civilian fear and terror. This is just another illustration of Putin's ruthless and reckless MO.
