Nato “An attack on one ally will trigger a response from the whole alliance."
A resurrected Soviet Union will represent an existential threat to both NATO and the US. They will embolden, enable and assist the totalitarian style governments they set up (in the Western Hemisphere) during the Cold War to threaten the US.

Putin will not stop trying to expand even with the retaking of former Soviet Republics.

If Putin invades the Baltic states, the West can grab Kalingrad as a buffer state.

So far those countries do not want to have any economic issues or lose their Russian oil supplies. So they are slapping Putin on the wrist. That is only going to embolden him.
To be fair, neither is the United States. America will not cut off Russian oil supplies to the US.

I didn't say that. I'm talking about Russia they were concerned that we were planning to put missiles in Poland which they considered a threat.

I think we have already decided that. And we are willing to let Russia and China fill the void of the worlds police. However there are consequences to that and we are seeing in Ukraine.

Not yet. But Ukraine does and once they are back under Russian control Russia will have a border with Poland.
