Kind of like "Let's give everyone $2K - 8K" might do to the demand curve.
a moratorium isnt a natural feature of Supply and demand in the same way running out of materials might be.

So pretending they are the same makes no sense.

I'm sure these "new households" consist of people who aren't even supposed to be in this country. Remove all illegals and see how better the quality of life would be.

There are some of them here who brag from time to time. Bottom line we need to do something about single family housing affordability, such as restricting homes to being owner occupied only or something similar....no foreign ownership either.

I suppose that would only help temporarily as less houses are being built often due to zoning rules.

I think they are grooming us to learn to live with less.

Yes, we know you wish us all dead and gone. You do realize the youngest three years of us are still in our 50’s right? We aren’t even retiring for another 7 years

American dream must be crushed. Americans must become renters. Generational wealth was previously passed down through real estate parents owned, or a nice chunk of wealth, anyway. The homes being bought up by companies will be rented out to illegals who cannot afford to buy. Young people have a bleak future in this country. Watching the rate of decline in so many fronts is depressing. Home ownership was always a bright spot and it’s fading.
Third-world country status can happen in a flash of time. What can the population do, I don’t know.

This is capitalism. You ride the boom until it goes bust.

Any suggestions?
Capitalism results to consolidation and oligarchy. We’re here. Now what.

In the last Bubble the banks were getting really lax with who they were lending to and suddenly when all those balloon payments and rate hikes hit people couldn't afford them and they lost the house.

This time housing prices are through the roof because inventory is so low and at least in my area (resort/second home) the buyers that have to really scrounge and work programs with the banks have already missed out. It is surprising how much cash is out there and people will buy a property for top dollar and then take it down to build bigger. The good news is the tradesmen are busy. The bad news is the average buyer cannot afford to compete and that leads to a housing crisis.

I think we are all heading for a big burst of the bubble and it will involve a lot more than housing.

World war three and poof, a great reset and rebuild. Worked in the past. It would even spur a baby boom. When humans have no conflict they often create conflict. That's late stage capitalism. A rather predictable cycle I don't think we can avoid if we try, genetics and all.

A full out nuclear war even with today's smaller sized nuclear warheads would still be devastating. Let's hope it doesn't happen. A few key choices by a small number of people could be responsible for the deaths of millions... wouldn't it be amazing that the stealing of the election by democrats caused a nuclear war that wouldn't have happened if Trump got a second term... who would have predicted that? But mean tweets!

The question we should ask is if that's necissarily a bad thing.

In any fair system there will be winners and lovers, some will win more than others, some will lose more than others.

So long as winning and losing is still possible, the system works.
