Many circumcisions are done with no pain management whatsoever. Obviously no consent is given either. Should this genital mutilation be banned until 18 years of age?
"It was once thought that newborns were unable to feel pain and that painful sensations experienced during the neonatal period would have easily been forgotten by them. It is now known, however, that newborns do feel pain and there is evidence that this can have physiological and behavioral consequences." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7782363/
There are legitimate medical reasons for the procedure; Decreased risk of urinary tract infections and STDS. It is also easier to clean - and that's important with kids. It should be the parent's decision.
Just put it this way, only a leftist would argue that trimming the skin is equivalent to cutting the whole thing off
Living in the San Francisco Bay Area all my life and knowing pretty much individuals from all walks of life, I can tell you with complete certainty, the only individuals who are against infant circumcision (barring actual religious beliefs) are the ones who are homosexual. Those who are "uncut" are viewed & treated as more desirable in the homosexual community. Seriously. First time I actually heard this argument first hand in person was right around 1996.
I kid you not. I was up in San Francisco back in 1996 with my girlfriend and we were attending a party that was being thrown by a few guys I knew. It was pretty much a group of 10 - 15 men. My girlfriend was the only woman there, she wasn't too enthused about the party. But I went because I had worked with the two guys throwing the party. The majority of guys there were over the age of 50. My girlfriend, myself and one of the guys throwing the party were the youngest attending. We were in our mid-20s at the time.
One of the older guys brought his sisters baby to the party. The baby was a boy and about 6 - 8 months old. As he explained, he asked to babysit the baby so his sister could go out to do something or the other, and so he was completely ecstatic to bring it with him to the party that night.
My girlfriend and I observed as the guy with the baby and about two other guys took turns going through the motions of breast feeding it, which wasn't really that difficult for them to do since they were wearing leather getups with their nipples exposed. During the party they all went on this rant how they were so upset that the decision their parents made had effected their adult lives negatively and how unfair such a thing was. They were talking about infant circumcision. That's where I first heard about this nonsense infant circumcision argument.
My girlfriend and I left the party pretty early though. Long before we could find out if that baby was circumcised or not. I'm sure they all knew by the time the party was over though.
That was in 1996. That baby is now in his late 20's. Bet he really "turned out".
that they want to tell you what to do with your penis as well? LOL
Well, more the parents. Infants have little to say on the matter, which I think is the issue.
Doesn't really bother me, I'm from the UK and it's less common than here. Do what you want. I didn't want to see my kids in pain afterward, so they're in tact.
Yeah, except this is the retort from the groomers who say that you can't ban puberty blockers and sex change operations for 10 year olds if at the same time you are allowed to circumsize newborns
