Here's some:

Crime, Deterrence, and Right-to-Carry Concealed Handguns

There's no way I'd have a gun in my house with two young boys. We leave outside lights on, set the alarm, and that's it. Never in my 40 years on this planet have I been in a situation where a gun was needed. Maybe I'm just smart enough to not hang out with shady people, wander dangerous streets at night, or live in a dangerous neighborhood.
You don't always have to live in a dangerous neighborhood; many criminals choose the more affluent areas knowing they may get more money or better valuables. I understand your concern about having two young boys and a gun in the house. However, they have gun "safes" to store them in. Also, not everyone hangs out with shady characters; many good, innocent people have been killed who did NOT hang out with shady people.

You seem to assume that people bring this upon themselves, and you are very wrong. I never want to hurt anyone, but I can tell you this, if anyone ever tries to come through the door (and if my husband happens to be away), either the pit bull will get them or the 357 will and I live in a good area, I don't wander dangerous streets and I don't hang with shady people. I am just an everyday working woman who will defend herself if needed!

The actual murder rate declined in those years. Instead of selectively picking your data, present the full murder rate data. Here it is:

1986: 1371
1987: 1368
1988: no data
1989: 1405
1990: 1387
1991: 1276
1992: 1191
1993: 1187
1994: 1152

And it continued to decline for years: Statewide Murder by Firearm

It took a handful of years for significant numbers of carry permits to be issued, but as more and more were around, the rate dropped. So in 1986, beforehand, it was 1371 murders, and by 1992, it had dropped to 1191. By 2005 it had dropped to 881. The 2006 spike (which was still lower than the 1980's murder rates) has been attributed by law enforcement to increased gang and drug conflicts: FLORIDA HOMICIDE RATE JUMPS 27% IN FIRST HALF | Crime Control Digest | Find Articles at BNET.com

Which I suspect will drop as the castle doctrine is used more...

I respectfully ask all to carefully read this article:

sometimes it is the ones we are trying to protect that create the life and death situation. inviting the wrong friends over to visit often sets the stage for breakins.

You know, the only "data" that is important to me is - my "data". How I feel. I KNOW I'm safer - and, that is ALL that matters.

OBTW - lots of people here in my area feel EXACTLY as I do - and NOT as you do.

The truth is the vast majority of cities are much safer than yours & they dont ban civilian gun ownership. You know it, thats why you talk about your low suicide rate. People killing themselves is not my buisness. My rights are my buisness.

Put simply, if you need to manipulate data & use convoluted logic as you do then you have already lost the arguement.

If one person, just one, gets murdered in DC that could have been prevented had that person not had his rights removed your law failed & killed that person. Socialism comes at a cost no society ever wants to bear. They just look the other way when tragedy strikes.

Maryland heavily restricts the carrying of handguns. Not quite as strict as DC but close enough...

Umm, what part?
Most of it was my opinion. The part about most cities being safer than yours without the illegal bans is fact. I'm sure you dont like it but that dont change a thing.
By your own admittance the only thing your law did was lessen suicide....
You do remember that right?

Cute smiley, I'm impressed.
