I wish. But no, I fear this was done to rally the troops.

True dat. Makes me chuckle when the right talks about our Republic being suffocated by the Democrats. Watch what they (Republicans) do, not what they say. Little by little they are turning America into an autocracy, and the knuckleheads are (sadly) loving it.

On to the specifics, Roberts did not issue and opinion on the leak, so we don't know where he stands.

In my opinion, this could be the straw that broke the back of a new civil war. Brains versus brawn. I am sick of these right wing people trying to destroy America. This may finally bring it to a head. We can not move forward as a Nation until this rift is resolved.

Here's an unpopular opinion:
Maybe poor minority women should stop having 'unprotected' sex and bearing children they cannot support at least at a basic level ON THEIR OWN. Yea, yea, I get the 'reproductive freedom' angle, but that doesn't include the rest of society assuming the burden of clothing, feeding, housing and to a certain extent educating a child whose parent has no means to do so themselves. That isn't 'my job.'

Using abortion as a means of birth control is disgusting IMO (and I'm sure happens more than we'd like to admit) and to suggest that women below the poverty line will be most adversely affected assumes they don't have enough sense to properly manage their 'sex lives.'

Birth control pills are FREE for God's sake as are prophylactics in many places. Get some and use them.

If this story came from a US news outlet I would not believe it outright.....but the Daily Mail has a good rep, no? If this is true, the leak is very troubling....but this is where we are.

I don't see that.

Plenty of news outlets saying the same thing:

The original Roe v. Wade decision was also leaked in 1973 and angered the chief justice so much he threatened staff with lie detector tests

I can't read through this entire thread but I don't understand why anyone thinks this is a ban on abortion. Most states allow abortion up to a point. I have 30 days to return a dress I don't want and I make it work. If I had to abort a baby, I would just decide as quickly as I could. Many states have 15 weeks.

quoted from the article your reference above:

The original 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was subject to leaks, according to legal historians.
The then-chief justice was furious when the news broke, one author wrote in The Washington Post.

But Monday's publication of a draft opinion is unprecedented.
