I think legally you cannot starve an inmate. Period
Yes legally we have to provide formula to immigrant babies under 1 year. I guess none of those immigrant mothers can breast feed.
They are lucky their babies survived the trip to the border with nothing .....
And so the WH had to redirect formula to the border because we had to at the expense of our own citizens.
How did humanity ever survive for the hundreds of thousands of years before we had baby formula? In any case, nice to see Biden and company care about American citizens.
Well...If a mother had a baby and either her milk never came in or the baby refused to feed, then a wet nurse was used. Later on, people made their own formula using karo syrup and cows' milk.
Back to the topic at hand --- It's absolutely criminal that illegal aliens are being prioritized over American citizens.
LOL. Wow. you guys really are desperate to blame Biden for everything. Pathetic. When we imprison people we are responsible for providing for them. Thats basic.
but not for you folks. You would....rather babies starve while in US custody? What sort of monsters are you all?
^^^^What an awful post!
These people have no business being on US soil and consuming our resources. For you to call those Americans who need formula for their own babies "monsters" is beyond disgusting.

It's actually a law.
We have "lawed" ourselves into a corner such that our supermarket shelves are empty while US goods go to citizens of other countries.
Republicans have slammed the Biden administration for sending baby formula to the U.S.-Mexico border amid a national shortage, but the White House is defending the move—not just under federal law but as the "morally right thing to do."

I may be wrong, but I believe the "monsters" they were referring to are the posters who are advocating for starving the immigrant babies that are at the border, not the families who are struggling to find formula.
I actually purchased several cans of formula to send to the regions where there is a shortage. What have you done?
If you imprison people they cannot seek alternatives, and they must be provided for by the government.
Or would you prefer we starved babies that are with their parents in a center? Is that who you want the US to be folks? REALLY?
These people should never have been allowed on US soil. They have no business being here and no valid claim for asylum. Besides, they came here through Mexico. Mexico is considered to be a safe country for asylees (per the UN). The rules say asylum seekers need to ask for asylum at the first safe country they enter. They aren't supposed to be country shopping. Let alone allowed to enter the US.
I want the US to stick to the rules and tell these people "NO". Period. We don't owe these people a thing.
Meanwhile, you are fine with American babies going without formula. That's is truly horrible.
