There has been 41 years to re-enact it. We have have Democratic Presidents Clinton, Obama and now Biden. Not all but a lot of that time they have controlled both houses of Congress. Do you seriously think there was a constituency, ever, to fund those "grants to community health centers"? New York had a similar program enacted in the early 1970's. I don't think it ever received more than token funding.

Politically I am an extremely liberal Democrat. I have no political axe to grind.

Why hasn't Democrat government passed gun control laws?

There are gun laws.

There is also the second amendment.

Guns do not kill people.

Bad people with guns kill people.

Good people with guns kill bad people.

That is why the person who killed those 19 children is dead and will never kill again.

since the late 70's when liberals closed all the institutions and sanitariums due to being "in-humane", mental health is the 800lb gorilla in the room that is never addressed
So let me get this straight….if we totally eliminated firearms from the planet, we’d still have mass knifings, chokings, beatings, etc. leading to the deaths of innocent children, church goers, etc. because the problem is we have inadequate mental health laws? Try again.

There is just no way to legislate the evil out of society. We must look within, at our culture and make the changes there. It won't be easy, the issues are complex, but its the only way to put an end to this. And even then, it won't be a 100% guarantee.

Look at the link above and notice MOST of the programs to address mental health issues are sponsored by democrats. The main funders of mental health advocacy are usually left-wing.

Here’s a thought. If the shooter of 19 kids was aborted would he have been alive to go and do it?
And the Democratic DAs and bail reform allows mentally ill and criminals back on the street where they repeatedly commit crimes.

Yeah Democrats are for mental health:

Their solution? no guns equal no gun deaths.... an academic theory they have been working on for decades and to them, the death of innocent children is an acceptable loss, the people need to make.

Obama...."the safest places have the strictest gun laws".. Maine has almost no gun laws, Chicago has very strict gun laws. With lies told like this a solution to violence will never be approached. Again dems always have to lie to push their agenda as it would fail on facts.

Why the legislators, DOJ, media look at that to find some clues as to why the killing.

Murders are not equally distributed across any city or state.... another huge clue

The most people killed are by gang members not mass shooters so stop treating both the same way with ineffective gun laws. This is not a one solution fits all situation. With gang killings stopped the death toll would be severely reduced.

RELEASE JUVENILE RECORDS!!! AVERAGE GANG MEMBER IS 15 YEARS OLD. Anti gun stats list the death of children....which includes gang bangers killing each other and collateral damage while doing it.

Media has to stop publishing finer details of shootings to prevent being a 'how to' source for a mass shooting.

Guaranteed to prompt copycat shooters who live ina video game world. They see the score killed and try to beat it. The media and videos have a role to play and needs to be examined.

Want to take away weapons???? start with the gangs who exempt themselves from gun laws. Don;t start with law abiding citizens.

Activist prosecutors, uber liberal legislators pushing no cash bail, resting police beyond reason to promote crime and then socialists wonder aloud what can be leading to increased crime. Hand a mirror to the next socialist who asks that question..

Thankfully, it's because of that pesky 2nd Amendment.

Um, no they can't. They cannot violate our Constitution, majority or not.

Yea, that is straight.

In Australia, where a mass shooting resulted in gun confiscation, the number of people killed in mass killings, versus mass shootings, remained virtually the same. Killings by arson, beatings, knives and axes skyrocketed.

And thinking that you will eliminate guns is a pipe dream. Never going to happen. The only thing that will happen is that criminals will now have the guns, leaving innocent people vulnerable. Kind of like in schools that don't allow guns.

why don't you let statistics show you

London England...guns are completely banned,,,,... yet (in 2017) there were still 2,544 gun crime offences, how could there be all these offenses if guns are completely banned

....and Knife crime also very high, with 12,074 recorded offences

where crazy is, crazy does
