Actually, there is. These are called CRTs = Cluster Randomized Trials.

Of course, you cannot control if each individual wears a mask but that's not the point. You will have far higher mask usage in one cluster vs the control cluster, then you measure if there was a benefit.

One such study was done in Bangladesh, it found no benefit for cloth or surgical masks (surgical masks showed a none-statistically significant benefit of 9%).

It seems the states/cities with heavy mask mandates and stay indoors orders suffered worse than states that didn't implement those measures.

Here is Dr. Michael Osterholm, who was on the Biden administration's COVID-19 pandemic transition team, explaining the phenomenon which is the actual reason flu disappeared. I know you won't listen, because I've posted it before and you ignored it and kept on repeating the same lie about Covid mitigations stopping flu. But others will want to listen and learn:

It isn't a 'lie', it is still the best bet. Just not proven, and as the good Dr. suggests it may have disappeared on its own. And that may be. It is just so far overly amazing that is disappeared so entirely in proper sequence Southern then Northern all over the world.

2009 was predicted to be a bad flu year and it wasn't. But we had flu and I saw less cases than we expected. But the bug was still there, not so entirely eradicated like during the Pandemic.

You're echoing Osterholm. The reason flu went into hiding during Covid was whatever phenomenon happened in 2009. Not masks or "social distancing" or whatever associated nonsense.

Masks are still being forced on people around here.

Why is it the "best bet"? a million things changed in 2020 besides masks. This is just personal bias trying to explain a phenomena.

The CDC even admitted that cloth masks do nothing, but hospitals still hand them out because they are a captive audience and they have a very high liberal population governing them.

Most of the doctor's offices in my area though have dropped them.
Around here they require the paper masks with the ear loops that break my skin out. We are not allowed to wear the cloth masks anymore. It's been that way since April.

Is that a state thing or local? The medical places here are not going to stop mask mandates.
