I don't have my own version of reality. Everything I post are facts and can be backed up with viable links and many times I do that. Just what fantasy reality are you speaking of?

No need for personal attacks either but typical of the left. I don't live in la la land I live in the real world while most of you and yours don't and in fact want to change the real world to your version of it.

One of my sisters is a conservative and a Republican. Like me, she's lived in this area all her life so she knew Trump has always been known for saying stupid things and acting out to draw attention to himself, but she feels very strongly about things he focused on in his campaign, like illegal immigration, and so she voted for him. She's also an atheist, so she didn't glom onto any of the wack-a-doo "God sent Trump" stuff that we heard from the extremist branches.

But think back. Remember when Art of the Deal came out and Trump was marketing himself all over TV and the city. He had a cult-like following back then, too. I can recall this starry-eyed young guy in my office sneaking out to go downstairs to the bookstore where "The Donald" was doing a signing, and people were lined up for it out the door and into the Concourse. He said outright that he wanted to be like Trump someday. (LOL, thirty years later, that guy is still employed as an accountant in the payroll department of the public agency for which we both worked.)

Trump opened his casinos in AC to a lot of press and fanfare, and people went there just because the Trump name was on them. He even made his affair with Marla very public, putting her on TV to talk with Barbara Walters when the news broke and his wife filed for divorce, and he himself bragged in the news how he had met her at church, which always struck me as a funny thing for a cheater to say, and even his religious fans didn't bat an eye. But it got him ATTENTION.

Then he got himself a TV show at some point, which I've never seen, but apparently that's how a lot of the younger generation or people out in "the Middle" got to know who he was.

Anyway, my point is that this is not the first time in his life he's had a cultish following, and to deny that it exists is just silly. It is at the very core of who Trump is--a man who needs more than anything else in the universe to keep his ego fed. To deny that is also silly. It is simply who he is. You can be like my sister and know that and still support him because you agree with the things he said he would do as President while at the same time acknowledging that he doesn't give a rat's ass about you or America or the flag or anything else but getting attention focused on himself.

It's the people who go beyond that and elevate him to the status of nearly-divine destiny that are considered to be in something of a cult, and those are the people who can Sbe dangerous.
As I said, Trump supporters are no more of a cult than the Democrats who were Obama supporters were but do carry on anyway.

People change! We are all aware of Trump's past but he has been married to his wife for 18 years now. People don't ordinarily behave the same way when they are older than they do when they are young. Most of us mature. Is Trump still crass, not well spoken, etc.? Yes, but as I continue to say it is bad policy that will break our country not personality. You have no further to look than the present president whose policies are dragging our country down. I never would have called Obama supporters cult members it's uncalled for.

People are drawn to pubic figures such as presidents, movie stars, etc. and like to get their autographs and be seen with them. So what? Public figures in general are attention seekers.

You're way off base here about Trump supporters so why should you care or even feel the need to mention the few fanatics if there are any? As for me I haven't even met a Trump supporter like that. It isn't about the man but his policies. I don't understand why you and yours don't get that. There are those fanatic types on both sides of the aisle anyway. Who cares about them unless it fits a subtle agenda to demonize the group as a whole.

Stating that Trump didn't give a rat's arse about Americans and our flag is false. If he didn't he wouldn't have given up his rich lifestyle to run for president and took the abuse that he did from the left for years! He got plenty of attention in his regular life without the abuse. Does this sound like someone who doesn't care about our country and its people?

Trump wasn't as conservative as I would have liked him to be. Just who is performing this litmus test on conservatism anyway and what are their credentials?

If a person or family member wants to cut me off for my politics, I would feel like the Geico commercial. I saved a lot of money and from wasted time in my life. No dead weight in my life.

I’m reminded of this…
He didn’t say that
And if he did, he didn’t mean that
And if he did, you didn’t understand it
And you did, it’s not a big deal
And if it is, others of said worse

I rarely post on Facebook now because most of my family are far right wing but I have a far left woke friend. Any post on current events and I get blasted for being moderate (or at least seeing both sides).

I think it’s likely that he didn’t get enough attention nor approval from his father.

I present as an example Liz Cheney, who is an old school Conservative by any definition, and is now on the outside looking in. Support for Trump is a litmus test. Every Republican in Washington knows it and behaves accordingly.

You could write this exact same thing (minus the detailed personal stuff) about Obama, Clinton or Reagan and it would read exactly the same.

Literally.
