How my conversations about crime and policing and homicides in Chicago have gone on this forum:
Me: Wow, murders are up over 60% from 2019.
Poster: It's because of the guns, the straw purchases.
Me: But they had guns before why the increase?
Poster: It's the guns.
Me: But then why doesn't most of the city have 40+ murders per 100k people? Heck many areas only have 1 a year per 100k people.
Poster: We need stronger gun laws.
Me: Won't the illegal drug smuggling gangs just still get guns?
Poster: It's the guns.
Me: Chicago had as many mass shootings in 2021 as the next 3 highest cities in the US combined. Seems like that's something they could address.
Poster: It's the guns.
*sigh* Ok, well enjoy your drive-bys.
