Rules of thumb to find places to avoid:

Anything advertised as budget, discount (airlines, cruises, vacation packages).
Most places labeled all inclusive.
Amusement parks in general.
Tourist destinations such as Miami, or Las Vegas.
Any Casino.
If there is a buffet.
Anything with the word "mo"tel in it.
Extended stay hotels / or if the hotel has a kitchenette
