Provide a link where Trump has publicly stated--while he was in office--that those materials were officially de-classified. If you can't then it never happened.

Shall we follow that logic to its conclusion? The stance seems to be that the documents are now declassified by a process that appears to be "Former Guy decided that they should be so when he had the authority, but didn't tell anyone". If we run with that, the docs are now declassified. Does that mean that the public can get access by filing an FOIA request?

Also, a sitting President may have the authority to declassify military secrets. But there is such a thing as classification by statute, and certain docs - in a particular, those having to do with nuclear technology - fall under that. Bodies appointed by the legislature oversee that process.

Of course, the statutes cited in the warrant has nothing to do with classification levels.

He, like, thought it. Really hard.

Because the FBI had them. And was put there during their secret search. And of course, we can't have council following us around

That's sad.

And only AFTER he was served and the documents were recovered. Very convenient.

Exactly.

Why did he have any presidential record that should be in NARA this long after he left office whether it was top secret or not?

While POTUS has full authority to declassify, the documents still need to be declassified to be handled as such... meaning they need to be remarked.... which according to the FBI, they weren't.

We can only hope it was only to shore up that enormous ego of his. But there are more nefarious things he very well could have done with these documents, and might have already.
