Responsible and proficient firearms owners don't EVER 'sport' their firearms in public under any circumstances. That would be contrary to every set of rules and obligations I have ever seen regarding the carrying of a gun in public or private. That being said open carry where legal is not 'sporting' a firearm. I can see that leftist meme coming. I don't personally favor open carry but I have done so on occasion. I just put the fact I am carrying thus to another place in my mind and try not to draw unwanted attention to it.


But yes. If you're going to have a firearm concealed or otherwise in public it is a primary rule to be able and willing to use it needs be. Just most certainly don't wave it around or try and draw attention to the fact you are armed. A verbal argument or even verbal harassment is not a reason to draw attention to the fact you are armed in any way. By strapping on that hardware you just assumed the role of the meekest and mildest mannered human on Earth.
