Yeah, they screwed up, no two ways about it.

Really moot to me whether she was road raging or not, there is a duty of care once in custody.
An update on the location,

Before the collision, Fort Lupton and Platteville police were responding to a 911 call about road rage with a gun. A Platteville officer pulled over Rios-Gonzalez at the rail crossing at County Road 36 and U.S. 85.

The nation' CBA rater for felonies is barely 50%, with nearly half getting away scot free. Can we live with that?

What if the police had said "We're onto you, so stop giving drivers the finger, OK?" Couple of back-slaps all around. Would justice be served?
So just don't enforce the laws then, right?

Are you pro-defund the police?

Did the cops force Rios-Gonzalez to:

Forced Rios-Gonzalez to [allegedly] road rage and point a weapon at her [alleged] victim?

Forced the [alleged] road rage victim to call 911, and put Rios-Gonzalez on the cop's radar?

Forced Rios-Gonzalez to continue driving instead of stopping when the cop tried to pull her over?

Forced Rios-Gonzalez to turn down that road?

Forced Rios-Gonzalez to 'finally' stop just after she'd cleared the railroad tracks, causing the cop to stop on the tracks?

What's next? Will you be saying that they planted the holster on her front seat, planted the bullet/casing found in her door(had she fired her gun at the [alleged] road rage victim?) and planted the gun that was found in the console(which she'd lied about having)?

It’s the cops’ job to detain people who may or may not have done bad things.

Nothing the suspect may or may not have done excuses them negligently risking the detained person’s life and limb.

I watched the whole 8 minute video, those cops were conducting the entire stop standing on and parked on the tracks, at no point did they consider moving the car off and onto the dirt shoulder - that train could have taken it out at anytime while they were parked on it.

Did they not consider trains use tracks? And can’t stop? A two year old could tell you that.

Here's the longer video. They show the mangled cop car, but you can't see the lady, obviously, or it wouldn't still be on YT:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyKyGJ3jb40

I'm even more disgusted by one of the trio of morons laughing while talking to a sheriff who is there to assist after the train hit the car. Just resign immediately and shut up!

I also think they owe the train conductor some compensation, as he had no way to stop in time. He blew the horn early enough for them to have time to get her out. It wasn't much time, but they could have done it. Imagine how he feels knowing by now that the car had someone in it. How apprehensive do they get at crossings? I don't know, but I'm sure he will be anxious at future crossings.

This lady looks very young, and to me, it doesn't matter if she and another car were raging at each other, she didn't deserve this. She had a gun in the car...that proves nothing. It's not like she's the only person in CO who has a gun.

Worry less about the bugs and more about where the hell you are. They could feel the tracks under their feet when they were getting her out of the truck, cuffing her, and putting her in the back seat, yet not once did they think, "We need to get this car off the tracks". Situational awareness is part of their job!

Again I say: Morons!

That’s what baffled me as well. They’re conducting the stop parked on the tracks, then they put her in the car and at no time considered moving it!

Who does that?? Don’t they know train tracks are for trains to yanno, barrel down at speed? It’s incomprehensible.

Cops have priority over trains.

So you agree with the poster that I was responding to, that they wanted to "off" her?
