There's a photo of Shiloh (in the article) which shows her as a young lady. You begin to wonder how much wanting to be called "John" was more about attention from her parents than actually believing she was a boy.

Did you read the op?, it has everything to do with the topic of the thread. Musk blames 'educational institutions', and I merely gave a possible reason as to why he thinks that. Then I said he is the only one to blame,. . . then you jump in and start attacking strawmen.

Having read more, I do think I misunderstood the source of the conflict between Musk and his child. It appears it has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with money. I'll play armchair psychologist for a moment and suggest that this young person has discovered that her father's enormous wealth stands in the way of normal relationships. The change to her mother's surname is a clue. She is looking to escape the spotlight of her father's wealth, and Musk spilling all to the FT is not just unhelpful but a demonstration of his near pathological level of self-involvement. A good father would recognize the source of her anger and work to help her deal with it. I expect that she already worries about being used, and here's her own father doing exactly that, using her to further his libertarian street cred.
I had no idea that Musk even had kids, much less 9 of them, he sure seems to live the life of a single and unencumbered man. I can see how his kids might need to be more protected than other kids. They probably are potential targets for kidnappers.
The elite school she attends is Ad Astra, an experimental school Elon Musk himself set up in 2014 for five of his children and expanded to include a couple dozen selected children of his SpaceX employees. As I stated above, this has nothing to do with "woke" colleges, so don't buy into his bull****. If he's distressed over the breakdown of his relationship with his child, he needs to look in the mirror.

Is she complaining publicly? Any media reports about Vivian contain only her statement from the court proceedings about her legal name change. That doesn't sound like someone who is seeking to make a public issue of her father's wealth; it sounds like someone who is trying to have a normal life out of the spotlight.

Edit: Further research indicates that Ad Astra closed in May 2022, so Vivian, at age 18, has probably graduated. No clue if she is attending college.

Xavier has said that he doesn’t want to be related to his biological father any longer. You can’t say that about the richest man in the world and not have it be about money.
Also, I find it kinda funny that biology suddenly matters to Xavier.
