Why shouldn't a show's writers have input on the content of the show?
I happen to think Dave Chapelle is hilarious, and incredibly honest, but I don't understand why anyone would think content creators for a television show shouldn't be allowed to express opinions strongly.

I found homophobic jokes funny back when I was 14. Now that I’m older and I have worked with different people, it doesn’t hit the same anymore.
Another example is on our way to Vegas, my cousins showed me some stand ups of Gilbert Gottfried. It had some jokes that were just on the nose homophobic. Like making fun of people for the sake of being gay. I cringed more than I laughed.
I think these jokes can land better if you go from an emphatic point of view. And come from a perspective of the people you are speaking on, and deliver the jokes in such a way that they’re actually anti-homophobic or anti-transphobic or anti-Racist and get everyone to laugh.
Rather than just singling people out and mocking them just for being who they are.
Overall, punching down in comedy rarely lands.
That’s why people like Crowder got big on their reactionary takes more so than their attempts at comedy.
EXACTLY. Making fun of marginalize people used to be funny, and we all did it.
It doesn't seem as funny as it used to, to laugh at groups of people who are outside of the norm.
Man I wish I could get cancelled like Dave Chapelle. I would be living large right now. The rumors of him getting “canceled” just like with his Netflix special made it more popular than it would’ve been otherwise. I guess that is a good way to drum up interest for a comedian past their prime.
Yea SNL sucks. I don’t know anyone under the age of 50 that actually watches SNL.
are you sure you mean 'under'? SNL is not some boomer, genx show( unless you are The View)
I still watch it, like skits on youtube. There are some fun bits.
And it is so cute,..well, cringe, when they make an attempt to be balanced and poke at both sides. And the audience is like,..nervous laughter. When we all know what side they butter their bread.
