We don’t know if they identified as non binary before but one does not need to do so in order to be considered non binary. Plenty of men including rapists, murderers and pedophiles started identifying as women after their arrests and have gained access to women’s jails and prisons as a result. Questioning their gender identity earns you the title of transphobic, bigot and TERF. It’s not allowed. Too bad there is no way to tell if people are lying when they claim to identify as a gender that does not match their sex.
