The talk about Reparations is used to hold onto the Black voting base. The same can be said of the "Cash for Flunkers" scheme that Biden dangled like a carrot to the young voters. He knew it was unconstitutional but he hung it out there anyways. The youngsters fell for it and who can blame them? With the Dems it is a maybe but with the Reps it is a No Way. The same can be said of Reparations for the many reasons pointed out in this discussion. When does it start, when does it end, who will be paid?
Reparations, Paying Off Student Loan Debt, these are both Democrat schemes to pander for Votes and it works.
My wife is from Ireland and she wants her Reparations for how her people were discriminated against back in the day when some business's put up signs "No Blacks and No Irish"...
White people don't count and few US History books will talk about the Irish who were treated lower than Freed Blacks in the Northeast.
Friends don't let friends learn American History on youtube.
Two comments to your reply.
First, I have fact checked most of the claims in the video (aside from my own knowledge of history), so please do let me know what fact/s you believe to be wrong?
Second, and sadly, far too many people will not do their own real research, even if I were to type out XYZ. At best they would use the tool of the lazy & ignorant and go to Wiki at the top of page 1.
Also, some people just respond better to watching a video or documentary.
For example, I have typed facts about MMGW (now rebranded as "climate change") and the flawed data that has driven much of the hysteria and propaganda.
Aside from the fact I am a total stranger on an internet forum, even if my information is believable or spot on, some will need to hear it from someone either perceived to be on their ideological side, or that has gravitas in the field.
So one day I posted a video of Dr Patrick Moore, who was the co-founder of Greenpeace, and has done more to save the planet and wildlife than most. He also is educated and has degrees in the field that most others don't.
After watching the video and looking more into it from a scientific standpoint, several people who were intransigent in their flawed beliefs, had a new and/or changed perspective.
So don't let the medium blind you to the information contained within it.
Honestly I think a lot of white people would be okay with a one time fee of reparations if POC could never throw accusations of racism, complain about not being selected for a job anymore, no longer have AA in schools and work places. Not sure some POC would be happy if those were off the table now. Imagine Democrats not being able to use race as a tool.
How could you offer a "one-time fee"? If reparations are given to one generation, every future generation is going to demand them as well.
Some Native Americans actually owned slaves. Google "Black Cherokee" and get you some history.
Also, they've already received/are receiving reparations. They were granted reservations with significant autonomy in their daily affairs. For example, they can do things on their land that are otherwise illegal in their respective states (such as casino gambling, selling certain types of tobacco).
Then there's the Indian Health Service. In 2017 on a budget of $5.9 BILLION dollars, they provided health care to 2.2 million Native Americans. That's $2,682 per person spent.

With all due respect I believe that the very idea that racism, slavery and Indian removal were political is flawed. Christianity and Whiteness guided men of that era to make the decisions they made. The people who held the ideals that eventually created Republicanism benefited as much from slavery as any other White Christian man. There were no Democrats in any other parts of the world that embraced Slavery. In the Western World they all had in common Whiteness and Christianity. The Civil war was a regional conflict not a war between political parties. The Democratic Party would have died with the Confederacy.

Redress and Reparations for Japanese American Incarceration
The Civil Liberties Act of 1988 gave surviving Japanese Americans reparations and a formal apology by President Reagan for their incarceration during World War II. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/wa...%20legislation
Only fools willingly go down the reparations rabbit hole. There's no beginning or ending to it and it distracts us from today's reality.
