You can't be serious. There are a LOT of people who are acquitted in a public trial who are completely guilty of the crime for which they were tried.

An impeachment is not a legal action. It's purely political, and has no bearing on any actual exercise of the law.
The appeal is asking for clarification of the legal aspects of insurrection.

What insurrection? NO ONE has been charged with insurrection in regards to Jan 6.
NO participants = NO insurrection
Furthermore, SCOTUS granted cert (agreed to hear the case) based on the Trump legal team's assertion that states lack jurisdiction to enforce 14th Amendment ineligibility as Section 5 mandates that CONGRESS has that power.

The insurrection that COSC says Trump led. That’s why SCOTUS is involved.
A. SCOTUS likes states rights. There is an overall Seditious conspiracy leader. That would be Trump through Stone.
Like any mob boss the orders go down from the top.

Trump's legal team has correctly made the case that Colorado lacks jurisdiction to enforce 14th Amendment ineligibility due to Section 5, and the DOJ has declined to use the mechanism Congress legislated to enforce it (18 US Code § 2383) because they have no evidence. That's why SCOTUS granted cert (agreed to hear the case).
