Which is why out west you're seeing predominently red states in the past turning purple and becoming swing states...
An army of one. My "argument" is about NH, not states out west...

To me libertarian and conservative are almost the exact same thing. I've heard a few libertarians talk and they sound like Republicans to me with the ideas that they have. To me libertarians are Republicans with a different wrapper. Most of my friends are Democrats and the libertarians I've heard are a lot more conservative than the people I know.

There is a difference between social conservatives and libertarians. Libertarians tend to be economically conservative but socially liberal.

I have a very good example that Conservatism works!

UTAH! The most Republican state in America.

Utah has the highest overall birth rate, but the lowest teenage pregnancy rate. Least number of abortions per capita of any state in the US. In Utah the most common form of sex education is abstinence.

Utah has the fastest growing economy of all of the 50 states. It has the best job market of all of the 50 states. Utah has the fastest growing population of all of the 50 states.

Utah has one of the lowest cost of living of the 50 states. Utah has consistently lowered its state income tax.

Utah is widely known as being one of the least politically corrupt states in the country.

Utah has a wildly popular Republican Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. Utah's senators are wildly popular even though they both support stem cell research and have slightly mixed records on abortion (both 75% pro-life ratings, tied with McCain). Utah's only Democratic congressman is a Conservative and pro-life.

So basically Libertarians are liberal/conservative hybrids. These are what most people call moderates. Middle of the road type of people. Most Americans fall into this category. Most people hover around that center line. You're left of the line or right of the line but not too far from that center line. If you get too far from the center line whether on the left or the right then people call you a fanatic. So being moderate is definitely a good thing.

Um you do the one if the major reasons those girls enetred that pact was because none of them wanted to abort, right

You're exactly right! Bush was very liberal economically. He spent money during his 8 years with the best of them. He was very conservative socially. He was pro-life, against federal funding for stem cell research, etc. So he was really conservative socially and really liberal fiscally. He ran on the Republican ticket but because of his spending habits he wasn't really a Republican at all. He did a good job fooling the people though and he was able to fool them twice in a row. Fool me once shame on Bush. Fool me twice shame on Bush again.

Please spare me the "New England is perfect" rhetoric, because people are leaving by the thousands for greener pastures in Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee, and many others. Afterall, this is a "City-Data" forum, mosey on over to the NC, SC, TX forums and take a good hard look at where people are coming from .
I'm originally from Texas, visit my brother in NC, and now live in New England. Wouldn't trade living in New England for Texas or NC. Ever.

People are better educated here, schools are better, more environmentally conscious, etc. Texas is a nightmare, as far as I'm concerned. Billboards and sprawl EVERYWHERE.
