South Africa, June 2010. Apparently despite alot of early worries, they are pulling it together, building stadiums, improving tourist infrastructure and should be ready to host. It was thought that maybe the US, Australia or England would have to host it in case SAfr wasn't ready.

I'm 50/50 planning on going. On one hand, it could be an absolute blast, and an excuse to tour the country... on the other hand, maybe I don't want to battle the crowds and pay higher prices when I could be happy at home with a television set.

True, but man, seeing a Brazil or Italy game? How fun would that be!! I saw a World Cup game when it was here in the U.S., I forget who played though, stupid of me.

Well, you know you could insist on sourcing right down to the original. If you are implying that the news we get in the US is often biased and slanted, I will not argue with you, but that's all I have to give you - what was broadcast multiple times.

How are they losing money? I think that's been already answered. Olympic productions have been money losers, but have usually been very good for local businesses.

How do they lose face? By having all those camera shots into the empty bleachers. Again, as I stated, they are filling the empty bleachers with Chinese students. A nice touch.

Why am I happy? All those shoddy goods from China. All the poisoned foods that they send to us and other countries around the world. And our government, in spite of this, insisting that we do business with them. Our government and business are practically one and the same. The US citizen means next to nothing.

Those seats that are not filled represent people from many countries. It is so encouraging to see so many who probably feel as I do. I mean, the lack of attendance cannot all be due to deaths in families, can they?

So, this is a good thing.

I think you are happy for some very strange reasons. Very sad.

Exactly how many people have died from these poisoned foods you talk about? Any names?

How do those numbers stack up against recent US deaths from tomatoes, meat, Vioxx etc.

I am very confused? Are the seats empty? I thought they are filled by students or soldiers? Perhaps there are not enough students and soldiers in China to fill the empty seats?

Who exactly on this thread feels as you do? Please identify the many you are referring to.
