Nope.

The other economies are going just fine. Do not confuse short term market correlation with economic power.

Russian demand for cars is way up. Chinese manufacturing is way up. Canadian standard of living is very high. On and on...

Reallly? How? I'm truly curious.

About my other post--I guess I should have asked if any conservatives would move to other countries (besides Canada) if Obama were elected. Canada would be down on the list (DUH!)

What exactly is your wife's degree in?

I highly doubt you will be able to escape the world economic crisis.
Wrong.

Other countries are doing just fine economically. Plus, Australia has MASSIVE natural resources as well as Canada. China has manufacturing infrastructure their new trading partners will be demanding. Europe is more self-reliant with energy, although they have their own problems.

Don't think that America is going to drag down everyone. This head fake called deflation is temporary and we're just dead weight broke consumers to the rest of the world.

Nah. Conservative to the core. I will do what's best for me and my family.

Uh, mortgage backers are now owned by the gubmint. Insurance company nationalized. Massive government bailout for the markets.

We're about at the Hugo Chavez level of socialism, and getting more socialist everyday, thanks to "republicans" and democrats alike.

This the case in Canada?

I lived in Canada for ten years, immigrated there from the USA, and it was easy to do then, but I think a lot mroe red tape now.

Canada is a perfectly divilized place to live. After a few weeks, you will forget that you don't live in the US anymore.

Alberta is a very easy place to get a job paying very high wages for even unskilled workers. But it is unbelievable cold.

Pelee Island is the southermost place in Canada, but you don't want to go there, the ferry service is too unpredictable. It's between Ohio and Windsor.and is slightly further south than the northern border of California. Montreal is closer to the Gulf of Mexico than to the northern tip of Quebec.

The Canadian dollar has gone back down to about 90c in the past week. There is a federal election coming up next Tuesday, which the American news media is keeping a closely guarded secret. On Wednesday, look for the results by seraching google news. Conservatives will probably iwn, but might be short of a majority. Canada is one of those third world countries with more than two parties.

Gas is quite a bit more expensive there than here. Elecrricity and most basic grocieries are cheaper.

She also has a college degree, many years of experience in her field and today, she told me that she went to one of those "Labor Ready" places to see if she could at least work for the day. She was turned down because they thought she was overqualified (DUH!). I don't care if you are supporting Mc Cain or Obama but in my opinion they both suck, both are flawed and I do not think any of them will be able to fix the current situation. Finally, as we were talking, the idea of moving to Canada seriously crossed our minds! It may sound like an absurd idea to some of you but to us, it is starting to make a lot of sense!
You are not crazy- now Canada is doing pretty well and jobs are plenty in many occupations. Longterm they may be in good spot(provded the USA never gets so desparate as to take Canada which would be easy to do) because of the worlds energy needs.

My opinion is that Canada lacks to oppourtunities of the USA but this is a price they pay because they hold more virtue as a society than do we Americans. Canada will not make you rich!

You are also correct about politicians not able to fix much of anything. This is not new though, rarely has the world seen the beast who could convince and also implement. They are two distinct traits. Canada suffers here too.

However before you leap across the border, there are still places in the USA where the local economics are good. Do your homework first, as these days labor shifts into certain areas and that trend will continue. Most of us will no longer live in one city for all our lives. Good Luck.
