I have several friends that live there. If you are conservative, they are far more socialist than we are (if that is a concern at all).

Word of advice about job hunting when overqualified. You don't have to list all of your experiences and education. Just put down enough to qualify in good standing, but not too much that would put you over the top. Ive picked up many jobs in the past where they would have been scared to hire me due to my experiences in the field I was applying for or in a field that was far more complicated than I was submitting to.

They only need to know that you are qualified to do the job, anything more than that is none of their business.

We're about at the Hugo Chavez level of socialism, and getting more socialist everyday, thanks to "republicans" and democrats alike.

This the case in Canada?
Hugo sure know how to run a communist state, hmmm I wonder do they have term limits in Venezuela.

no, it is not an absurd idea...I have heard, jobs are plentiful there, not to mention...very handsome salaries. So if you both agree, it might be to your benefit to move. You might make the best move in your life by deciding to do so? I dunno, but your both young, what do you have to loose?

I don't think I ever had enough money to move to Canada. Besides the place is too darn cold for too much of the year.

How about being a reverse "snowbird". In Florida during the winter, there is more Canadian license plates than Floridian. And, while, entitled to their opinion, I get so tired of listening to the women at Publix gripe and complain about what food costs in FL vs. Canada. If it is so bad...why did you come down? The grass isn't always greener.....

Yes, they do. Chavez propose that term limites be lifted, but the voters (in a perfectly free and fair election) voted to not change the law, so Chavez' term is limited. When Chavez term expires, there will be another perfectly free and fair election in Venezuela, and a new president will be elected, and it will AGAIN be the president that the PEOPLE WANT.

Where on earth do people get all these misconceptions about everything? Why are so many Americans lied to, and by whom? Americans, please get your brains out of "Freefall".

-------------

By the way, Canada is, on balance, mo more socialized than the US. There are a couple of socialized machines in place in Canada, but in general, everything is pretty much th4e same. Yes, they do have socialized health care. Americans are the only people in the world who think this is a bad thing. Because of Canada's harsh winter climate, it has a lot more people employed in seasonal jobs. As a result Canada's unemployment benefits are more liberal than those of the US, to help seasonal workers get through the slow times. The US also has unemployment insurance, but Canada's natural circumsances require that it be mroe expansive.

Canada has an old-age security plan very similar to that of the US Social Security. No more, no less. Canadian welfare programs are actualy less liberal than those in the US. As far as I know, the government footprint on people's lives is pretty much the same as the US.

Yeah, I'll believe that when I see it. When's the last time you saw an authoritarian ruler step down voluntarily or at least do so without handpicking his successor? My guess is Chavez is gonna step down just like Putin did when Medvedev was "elected".

You're welcome to guess whatever you want. That does not make it a fact.
