There is a whole bunch of liberal bashing here done by people who claim to be conservative. Liberals have brought America, 40 hour work week, Lighthouses, harbors, railroads, canals, Navigation equipment, Freeways, got rid of slavery, won WWII, among others.
Gets me to thinking. What have Conservatives done for America?

You should probably reread history a bit.
The problem with your question is that what you consider an accomplishment maynot be considered an accomplishment in a conservative's eyes, thus the crux of the debate. For example, I consider the 40 hour work week an infringment on the rights of the employer who is responsible for the availability of the job in the first place.
Thank you for the infomative response Lincolnian, my guess is that you could not think of anything.
Amaznjohn, There are historical reasons for the forty hour work wee. Again I suppose you are not familar with the history of labor in America, and the abuses, Since you have a problem with the forty hour work week, you also have a problem with restricting child labor?

Wow where do I begin with such an incredibaly preposterous post?
40 hour work week - many of the labor reforms were introduced by Teddy Roosevelt, a republican.
Lighthouses - Ummm, I think just maybe in the history of the U.S. a person calling himself a conservative may just have built a lighthouse.
Harbors - see lighthouses.
railroads - Intercontinental railroad completed during Grant's tenures, a republican.
canals - I think panama canal started under Garfield or, again Teddy Roosevelt's tenure.
navigation equipment - see lighthouse.
freeways - didn't Ike introduce interstate highway system?
slavery - this should be obvious. Lincoln was a republican.
ww2 - Remind me, what party did General Eisenhower alight with?
Now my response above is about as preposterious as this post since, of course, the history of the U.S. politically has produced a balanced liberal vs. conservative policy. The total premise of your question is without logic or thought.

You have to keep in mind that the ideals held by the respective parties have flipped sides a COUPLE of times in the last 200 years. For example, Lincoln would now be considered a liberal democrat in 2007. There is no way they'd let him into the republican party.
confusion here, Republicans were the Left in the 19th century. Even Reagan would have called himself a 19th century liberal.
You are confusing republican with conservative. Lighthouses may have been built by conservative stone masons, but the concept of spending government money for the public weal is liberal.
By canals, I meant the network built in the early 19th century, the project was opposed by Conservatives.
Teddy Roosevelt and Lincoln both expanded the power of the Federal government exponentially. In fact, Lincoln has been called America's first Bolshevik.
In sum, you don't know your American history.

Also, Eisenhower's role in WWII wasn't as of a conservative politician (he would probably be a Democrat in today's spectrum, anyway), but rather as a general. Our involvement in WWII was overseen by FDR, a liberal Democrat.
Notice that there has been squealing, but no one has come up with anything that Conservatives have done for America.
