Someone here quoted the amount of waste at 30%, a figure I believe to be high, but lets just assume its correct.
That means that the average family, instead of coming up with $48,000 needs to come up with $33,600. How many people have $33,600 a year to pay EXTRA in taxes? Probably none of us here on the forums..
In addition, what if the waste goes up? Not down? After all, all the government does is contract with Blue Cross/Shield for example to insure medicade and medicare recipients.. the government doesnt insure or pay these bills at all.
Under the proposed system, these insurance companies would then HAVE to donate to politicians campaigns in order to even attempt to bid on contracts. If you dont believe me, then explain why Hillary has received more cash from insurance companies then any other candidate.. (almost twice the amount of any other candidate)..
You want to talk about special interest groups.. get a special interest groups that controls $4 TRILLION dollars a year.. larger then the current budget of the federal government.
It's about time we start holding the government responsible for overspending our tax dollars anyway. They think they can just take all of our money and give their buddy the contractor a nice salary? I think we need to challenge that in general.
Accountability. We, the people, should be keeping our government in check a bit more when it comes to overspending. Think of all the programs we wouldn't be fighting about on here if they were just run a bit more efficiently (ie: not wasting our money all over the place).
As for the 30% waste, I believe it. As I stated earlier, I received so many bills for one event (having a kid). I wonder how many people it took to print out 6 bills for a less than 48 hour hospital stay?
You guys are posting purely hypothecial numbers inasmuch as there are over 300 million people in this country and the amount of dollars needed are basically incaluable
